Mr. Grow It, I am a first time grower with 4 plants in a 3ft x 3ft x 6ft indoor grow tent. I am using the Fox Farm soil and I have been in Veg stage for 4 weeks now. The plants are in 3 gallon grow pots and are only about 6-7inches tall with 8-10 nods each. I am using a Bestiva LED grow light with both VEG and Bloom switch options. I think I am ready to switch to Bloom stage, but am unsure of how to proceed. I have been using 18-6 Veg lighting, and am wondering if I should go to 12-12 Bloom lighting? If so, do I just use the Bloom light switch? or both the Veg and Bloom lights? My concern is that my plants look smaller than other growers at this stage. I have not been able to do any LST due to the size of the plants. They seem very healthy, just not as large as other growers that I've researched. Any suggestions or advise that you can offer is much appreciated.
Thank you,
Yes, simply increase the amount of complete darkness the plant receives to 12 hours a day. Some even do 13 hours of darkness. I recommend to keep both the Veg and Bloom switches on so the plant can receive a higher density of light that is closer to a full spectrum. What is the light distance from the grow light to the top of your plants? Some strains such as indica strains will stay short. They also tend to have large fan leaves and close node spacing. That may be why the plants are small. Once you flip to flower, the plant will "stretch" for about 3 weeks. Its height could double or more. Remember, LST is optional. No need to worry if you don't do it. Do you know which strains you're growing? What are you using for nutrients?
