Hello fellow growers
I have a bit of a problem going on it would seem. I have 2 white widow fems by Greenhouse Seeds but only 1 plant seems to have the issue.
Both plants are in 10 gal pots
Both plants are using BuildaSoil 3.0 as the medium
Both are at 5th week of flower
Grow space is a 4x4
Light is a Chilled Tech 600 watt
Temps are 75F - 80F, RH is 57% - fluxuation is depending on lights on/lights off.
I've looked over the plants and I haven't seen any unwanted guests.
I water every 3 days (keeping the soil moist)
BuildaSoil just like Earth Dust is on a water-only schedule. - I also feed her Recharge every 10 days and give her worm tea when my bubbler is working properly.
Also, buildasoil like Earth Dust has a "boost" concoction that you till in about 2 weeks before flower..
I may have put a little extra in .. so that's the nute burn in the pics. So here's a question, if the plant has nute burn should I cease and desist on the Recharge?
I was under the impression that most folks who use organic/living soil don't usually water until there is a runoff because you want to keep all the goodness in .. if I'm wrong on that, please let me know.
That being said, the pH in the soil has never been checked. Tomorrow is water day, I was going to go ahead and water until I get runoff and check the pH ..
I went ahead and gave 3ml of cal-mag last watering .. seems like things still have progressed.
Being living soil, it's not recommended to use synthetic nutes.
I am ass when it comes to remembering organic amendments and what they do - so once we figure out the issue .. maybe you kind folks could throw some recommendations my way.
Thank you for your time.
Oh and PS.
@Mr. Grow It I have 4 other beautiful ladies outside grown in Earth Dust, I can't say enough good things about it.
Pics: I pulled the infected plant out of the tent so I could take better pics. They look a little dark to me, if we need more pics, just let me know.
Infected leaves are found all over the plant, not just top or bottom.
Once again, thanks for your time.
Have you been keeping the top layer of soil moist the entire time? That was my mistake when I first started growing with organic inputs and top dressing. That top layer should be moist at all times so the amendments can be broken down by the microbes or else you'll see deficiencies. I had to also use a mulch layer and have used cover crops as well in order to help keep that top layer moist.
@Dr. Ozzy Thats the problem, you cant flush organic soil bc it takes weeks for the amendments to take effect, unlike say ffof running bottled nutes where the nutes are instant.
@SinnerSpread ...this is "us help us" until MGI shows up to straighten things out and help us not kill the tent...lol...so, to that end-
- double check the bat guano- not saying it won't work- it's just I thought that at first as well, other research I feel has revealed other options...again, situations vary and it may or may not be your only option...your in week 5...is it a regular 8 wk strain or a longer 10-11 weeker? If you are days from flush, other than attempting to correct pH with up or down in the water, what would be very effective? Not sure about strain schedule...
- Slurry test- OK, first time I read about it, yes, I tried and had roots in the way and said "Eff it" - but I saw a suggestion of trying 1 tablespoon, couple of inches down, but go down towards the outside edge of the soil, by the bag or pot. And, do it in 2 spots, opposite side of soil from each other- the 2 sample "average" each other to better represent the pot mass. Plus, soil does not have tighter roots to the outside-
- if your pH is low, water in water that has been pH'd above what you are shooting for. If high, opposite. Make sense? Not sure you wanna flush wk 5 of flower? I mean, your not far off from doing it normally....I am not sure there....
I am just thinking about if that pot is fed, watered, soil packed differently...something organic like that, those spots that might be the deficiency, it's not a fan blowing on that area, right? more leaves than that? ....dunno. Lot depends on the pH read in the morning...
And Thanks for the kind words Growmie-
@Dr. Ozzy Bro .. that was the fastest response I think anyone has ever seen. You broke records dude lol and you were exactly right with your response. I commend you dude!
So Google says I need to pick up some Bat sh#t .. I will head down to the garden store tomorrow. I could seriously hug you dude lol...
Thanks Again!
Phosphorous intakes between pH 6.2 and 7.0 ...fml if its that far outta line
@Dr. Ozzy always forget the @ lol
I own that same book lol .. guess I should crack it open every once in awhile. Yeah, I looked into slurry tests but everytime I go digging, I end up running into root structure. Ok, so here's the big question.. if my pH is off which I will check tomorrow morning, how do I correct that if your not suppose to flush the soil?
Phosphorus deficiency it looks like from pics and being in wk 5 flower-
“Phosphorus
DEFICIENCY
DESCRIPTION: Phosphorus aids in root growth and influences the vigor of the plant. Much of the energy that the plant receives from the sunlight is later stored mostly as phosphorus. Phosphorus is used in order to perform photosynthesis and it also enhances bud development.
PROBLEM: Brown spots on leaves on the lower part of the plant. Leaves may also turn yellow and curl.
SOLUTION(S): This deficiency is often seen in weeks 3, 4, and 5 of the flower stage since cannabis uses a high amount of phosphorus during these weeks. Growers will also encounter phosphorus deficiency if the pH is out of the ideal range. Check the pH and adjust to the ideal range if necessary. If the plant is in the flower stage, a PK booster can be used to increase phosphorus levels. A PK booster is an additive for plants that consists of phosphorus and potassium.”

Instead of water till runoff, can you take a slurry test?. I know those 10G pots are big- the fade color looks like they are hungry…can you make a liquid “tea” fro, the boost amendment. Recharge is aiding the breakdown of your nutrients and making it available to roots- but if your pH is wonky, it does not matter as your plants are locked out and aren’t eating anyway…brown spots…. Hang on…..checking MGI’s book….
