Just wanted to say thank you for your book which was a a great help in my first grow that alongside other information helped me to achieve a successful grow I grew 4 autoflowers orange sherbet from fast buds in 12 litre fabric pots each plant produced 120 grams of dried bud which is incredible for my first grow , I know I have to let it cure for a month or so before I can smoke however I tried a small amount out of curiosity and it was not burning and was black ash … is this something that curing will resolve ??
once again thank you very much

Yep, that sounds about right. You probably went 'OMG what have I done!?!', but don't worry.
From personal experience, I find that after a week of curing you can examine a small nug and try it out in pipe just to get an idea where you are heading. This is assuming the humidity in the jar is at least in the low 60's. It will probably still burn like crap and leave a blackish ash at this point.
After two weeks assuming you have it dialed in around 62%, you can start smoking joints and they wont be too bad. But wait at least 4 weeks and you will be amazed at the difference from what it was like at the two week point. After 6 weeks it gets even better, but after that I find it stabilizes there.
Good luck. I'm a first timer too and I'm within 15-20 days harvest.
Like with you, this forum and the growers on it have meant everything to my grow.
Please update on drying and curing, I'll be following and literally right behind you.
Not sure if it will specifically or not burn "black ash" but the curing process is a big chemical reaction so there will be a change in the material so it would make sense the ash will be different. I usually wait after a couple of weeks in the jar curing after dry before I take a tester to actually see what I am starting with. I DEFINITELY can attest to a month or 6 weeks in the jar is night and day difference in potency, taste, color than that first tester-
....if any of that helps-
