Good morning, this is my first grow. I am growing Gelato autoflower, 4x4 tent, TSW 2000 LED light, using Fox Farm soil and nutrients and am currently in week 4. I have been doing some LST to try to even out the canopy, and I think they are about to start flowering pretty soon, and want to be sure they are supported well. Should I use the trellis net or tomato cages with clips? Just wondering what works best for other growers.

Your girls are looking happy and healthy so I wouldn't go with a flush just yet. A plain watering occasionally is a good idea, I usually do two feedings and then one feed of just PH'd water. So probably a good idea to give them just plain PHd water for the next feed or two.
As long as what you are feeding is in the correct PPM range and you throw in a plain PHd watering every couple of feeds, I wouldn't worry too much about the run off PPM unless your girls are having issues.
In case you have not seen this, here's a good PPM chart.
Hi, the leaf problem looks like a PH issue or maybe a Calcium deficiency. I would check the PH of your feed and add in some CalMag every feed during Veg. I wouldn't worry about purple stems, that's usually just genetics, if it was a problem you would be seeing other symptoms as well.
If it's just one leaf near the bottom, I wouldn't worry about it too much and just cut it off. You might want to try 'Lollipopping' at some point, which is removing the bottom 3rd of growth.
Here is part of an article that explains it well:
Tip to Lollipopping Cannabis for the Higher Yields
I have had the best results lollipopping cannabis right before the switch to the flowering stage. Growers often don't need to lollipop in the vegetative stage unless you haven't trained your plant and it's gotten very tall or out of control.
Growers call the technique "lollipopping" because you're making the bottom bare like a lollipop stick 🙂 But keep in mind that removing too many bud sites can definitely hurt your yields!
Here's one of my larger girls with 5 poles. I try to get the bamboo poles as close to the edge of the pot as possible and as deep into the soil as they will go so they will be nice and sturdy. I usually add the poles the first week of flower and the roots do not seem to mind.
Hi, I'm growing Gelato Photo Periods and these girls get bushy fast with lots of floppy branches. I assume the Auto version will be similar.
They are prime candidates for a trellis but I do not use them as I only have access to the front of my tent so would not be able to get the girls in the back for maintenance. If I could open the tent right up and access all sides, I might consider using a trellis.
Instead I use bamboo poles and garden wire which I place and adjust as the plant grows. Works great and I can still move each plant around and work on them as needed.
For your first grow, I would suggest you stick with a tomato cage or bamboo poles. That way you will be able to move your girls around as you learn about growing. Once they are in a trellis they are not going anywhere.
Have fun!
Most autos probably wouldn’t need to much trellising if they stay small/medium.
tomato cages would possibly be good for these if you have them
