Good Day Everyone:
My babies are 6 days old, and I transplanted the plugs I had sprouted my seeds in since the roots were starting to show through the plug. I noticed the change in color (slight lighter in green) and slight burning on the edges of the first leaves. I'm thinking this could be due to two issues. One, my light may have been too intense and too close to the plants. Or two, the soils I'm using may have had nutrients which may have been too much for the new plants. My water Ph was at 5.5 and I have only watered one time so far. The plug was still moist when I transplanted and I premoistened my soils in my new pot with the adjusted PH water prior to planting. After planting, I did give adjusted PH water to help settle the soil, but the soils are still quite damp and the fiber pot is damp to the touch on the exterior. Temp at the plant is 75°. I've been placing the Dome back over the plants at night to help maintain warmth and humidity when the light goes off. I've been taking the dome off for the last two days to help give the plants fresh air and help to evaporate off any excess moisture. Are my babies going to be okay? Do I need to take action to keep them alive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow! That's looking really nice!
but I think you still need at least another week. There are still a fair amount of white pistils and a lot of the amber ones are still sticking out. I usually wait until 99.9% of the hairs have turned amber and most of those have pulled back to the bud.
I do see a few amber trichomes but mostly on the big leaves like in the last picture. The trichomes on the leaves usually turn amber before the trichomes on the buds.
You also mention if you cut her down you plan to hang her in the same tent as your other plants. That's generally not a good idea as the lights in there will burn off the trichomes.
So, you could harvest now but it will be weaker than it could have been and if you dry in a lighted tent it will get even weaker.
Sometimes you have no choice and have to harvest. If you do harvest, here is a link to a DIY dry box that attaches to the grow tent and keeps things dark while still using the carbon filter.
Good luck!
Thanks Cap, I really appreciate your wisdom.
I usually keep the nutrients going up to about 3 weeks before harvest then switch to water with a big flush about 2 weeks before the harvest.
You will know you are getting close when all those white hairs (or 99%) turn amber and start receding back into the bud.
They look great and it looks like you actually have a long way to go. When you say 'Day 96' I think you mean from seed, but it looks like you switched to 12/12 around day 63 so that would mean you are on day 33ish of flower so about week 4 or 5 of flower I would guess.
You probably have another 4 to 6 weeks to go so lots of time for those buds to fatten up into huge dense nugs. They will really chunk up during the last two weeks before harvest. You will know they are close to harvest when all those white hairs sticking up turn amber and pull back to the bud.
Those are some nice looking buds for week 5, keep doing what you are doing.
looks close, but I can still quite a few white pistils. Can we get a couple of not-so close ups of the buds for the big picture.
Day 92 I think they are getting close. Buds are small, nothing like what some of you grow, but I'm just happy to have kept them alive this long. I have some trichome pictures today, and maybe some of you can give me some feedback on what you see. I'm thinking I need to start just water feedings to start to flush in prep for harvest. Thoughts? Last feeding was a week ago at 792 TDS and 6.5 ph. Maintaining 58% RH and light schedule is still at 12/12.
Day 69 of the grow. Just gave the girls a feeding last night and they seemed to shoot up over night. Flowers are starting to develop and they seem to be drying out a little faster now, so I anticipate some good root growth in the 5 gallon pots. Maintaining a RH between 55% & 60%. Temp is maintaining at 81° when the lights are on and 70° when they are off. I did turn down my lights a bit because of the proximity of the plants to the light. Adjusted my light height up to the max now and the reading was at 792 par. Before turning the lights down I was close to 1190 par. I guessing turning my lights down will reduce the heat in the enclosure as well so I may need to keep an eye on that.
The buds forming are small but seem to be starting to stack up on the stem. Since this is my first grow, I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Guess I'll have to just keep watching. So here is what they look like at day 69. If you look really close you can see trichomes developing near the flowers.
So I was away for about a week. I watered the plants just before I left since they have been running about seven days between watering. I was a bit concerned about humidity since it is still winter and the air is really dry and I've been having to keep a humidifier running to keep the RH in the 60% range. To solve that problem while I was gone, I placed a 5 gallon bucket of water on my cloning mat and set the temp to 78°, which worked great. The RH was 57% when I got home. I now have a humidistat set up and connected that to my humidifier, now it is a set it and forget it kind of thing. I did switch my light schedule since the plants really grew while I was away and I do not want them to out grow the enclosure. Enough about that, I'm guessing you would like to see them.
Looks like they are coming along good! I'm sure you know this but running a high humidity like that could lead to powdery mildew, although, you mentioned good air circulation so you should be good. Do you plan to add in an exhaust fan soon or trying to get away without one for now?
Looks like they are getting healthy and lush. Keep it up. 🌱🪴🤙🏻
Okay, so I said I would show pics in a week or so, but the girls are looking so good I wanted to share.

Good Growing
Thanks, I appreciate the input. Plants are still looking a little short, but are filling out nicely. The main stem is splitting into two individual main stems where I cropped above the 3rd node. I may have screwed up the cropping on one of the plants, the top is getting quite bushy. I will post pictures in a week or so, once I see how it progresses. I do appreciate everyone that is helping to get me through this first grow.
Looks like signs of overwatering but looks like its recovering or is already recovered from it. I personally haven't tried those pots that breakdown but I've heard from others that plants can struggle to get through them. Maybe someone else with experience using them will reply.
Progress Pictures. Just micro-cropped these girls earlier this week. 2 plants moved to their final home, 2 still trying to catch up.
The roots are starting to come out the side of the fiber pots on both the GSC plants, Guess I need to give them a new home. Plan to move them to their new 5-gallon cloth pots as soon as I can get enough soil to transplant. The great thing about the fiber pots used to transplant the plugs I sprouted the plants in, I can just plant the entire pot in the new soil and they break down and let the roots through. I think it causes less stress on the plant when transplanting this way. Thoughts?
How many grows have you attempted?
I would leave the covers off at night. The plant needs the temp change. It's like if you couldn't tell if it were day or night. It would throw you off and make you weak. It looked like your medium was a bit wet/over watered. If you are watching it close then it's okay to let it dry down a bit. I little dropping/wilting (needing water) it's okay. Over watering is the biggest issue. Bottom watering is the best way if you can figure out a system that works for you. Soil moisture can be the biggest issue when trying to keep the plant healthy.
If your plant is growing, then you don't need to worry about nutes. Water PH is less important than most think depending on what method you are using to grow.
