In January 2021 Montana (my state) recreational use and growing of 4 seedlings and 4 mature plants per household is allowed. However dispensaries aren’t allowed to open until 2022 so my only option would be to grow. I just watched your vivosun beginner grow videos and I have alot of questions so bear with me. 1) My husband is worried it will make our 2 bedroom apartment and our clothes smell and we know Some people don’t like the smell so we don’t want that. So does that grow tent with the carbon filter do really well with the smell? Also, since we don’t have a spare room to dedicate to growing would putting the tent in the living room be okay? 2) I haven’t looked at the seed banks yet but when I did an google search I found you can get different types of seeds. Auto flowering, fast flowering, (and I can’t remember the last one). what are the differences , pros/cons and which ones are recommend? 3) What are some things beginners need to know before they even attempt to grow? 4) why do you start seeds in small containers instead of just starting in a big container? I’m going to save my other questions for another post, I want to kinda keep them in groups lol. Thank you for reading this long post, I appreciate any tips and tricks.

First off, congrats on becoming legal! Thanks for not overloading us with a million questions in one post lol. It's easier to do a few per post because the answers may eliminate some future questions. The plants won't really start to smell a lot until they have trichomes on them - which is most of the flowering stage. When I used a carbon filter, it worked well. I no longer use a carbon filter because I don't need to hide the smell and now my entire house stinks when I have plants in flowering. The smell doesn't really get stuck to your clothes imo. It's really best to use a carbon filter and exhaust the air out a window if you're worried about smell. 2) I haven’t looked at the seed banks yet but when I did an google search I found you can get different types of seeds. Auto flowering, fast flowering, (and I can’t remember the last one). what are the differences , pros/cons and which ones are recommend? I personally think photoperiod feminized are best for beginners since you know the plants are going to be female. Also, if you have problems while the plants are in the vegetation stage, you can keep them in Veg until the problem is corrected, then flip to flowering. Autoflowers automatically flower at a certain age so if you have problems, it could go into flowering which will negatively impact yield. 3) What are some things beginners need to know before they even attempt to grow? This is a loaded question and I can't answer it all here. Here are a few tips:
1. Know what equipment you need and have what you need before starting. 2. Get seeds and learn how to plant them
3. Balance the temperature, humidity, and air flow in your grow environment
4. Don't overfeed
5. Don't overwater
6. Measure the pH and PPM of the runoff
There are so many more things that can be said. I have a book written specifically for beginners that has helped 1000s of people get through their first few grows: ebook: https://bit.ly/3lweRk4 paperback: https://amzn.to/3pfIQz4
This will give you some good general knowledge and will save you hours upon hours of research time.
4) why do you start seeds in small containers instead of just starting in a big container?
Here's a quick video I made a year and a half ago which explains. Read the comments on that video for more reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiL0L6OaPCI
