I notice after drying your buds you tend to lose most of your color. Why is this?

If the flower is exposed to light they will turn yellow/gold quickly.

If you keep it dark and don't open it too much it will retain most of the color.

FYI: if you use a freeze dryer it won't lose much color.

All the green goes away hopefully. The chlorophyll breaks down and the color fades. Sometimes you get more color when the hairs turn orange
