This is the first time harvesting my plant. I thought I was doing everything correctly. first thing I realized as the plant dried out was that the plant was a dang hermaphrodite!!! Besides that... the bud is so dry now when you touch it, it just crumbles. Where did I go wrong? It’s been hanging for 5 days. Is it ruined? What can I do differently in the future. the room is humidity and temperature controlled. I just don’t understand how it go so dry so fast. Thanks! (Btw the fan behind it has been off.)

You didn't mention the temperature and humidity that you dried in. Many growers will do 55-60% humidity and 60-70°F ... Under those conditions it can take anywhere from 7-14 days to dry. The moisture content in the buds when harvesting will be a factor. For example if the medium was dry and the plant needed watering the day you harvested, well then the moisture content will be lower than a plant that was watered the day before harvest. Hope this helps.
Hi, sometimes it's not really as bad as it first appears. Put them in the jars as soon as you can and to increase the humidity in the jars, add some Boveda packs. Use Mini Hygrometers to monitor the humidity in the jars, you can get a 5 pack of those for about $20 on Amazon. Then cure as normal but only leave the jars open for 15-20 minutes and you will probably be ok or at least salvageable.
Next time, just keep checking them after about 3 days, now that you know what 'too dry' is you can catch it before it happens. You could also trim less before drying, leaving more leaves on makes the dry take longer. Live and learn. 😁
Nice looking buds!
