Perlite and vermiculite have different functions. Perlite is a good choice when you have plants in your garden that require soil to dry out completely between watering. Vermiculite is best used for plants that require soil to stay damp and not dry out. It can absorb 3 to 4 times its volume when water is added.
I have not used vermiculite for cannabis. Everything I have studied points to using perlite in order for soil to drain to runoff and dry out between watering.
My thoughts on using perlite with coco is you will need additional drainage. I use 30% perlite.
