This is my first grow, so I'm freaking out about everything. I transplanted these four girls 4 days ago. They are 3 weeks from when they broke ground, in fox farm ocean forest. Some of the stems purpled a week ago after a couple nights when I had forgot to set the heater and the temp dipped to 60°F. But other than that it's been a constant 60% humidity and 75°-80°F. I am confident I overwatered around the time of transplant, leaves sat heavy and droopy for about 2 1/2 days. But now the bottom leaves of each plant have significant yellowing.
If its over-watering as far I know there's nothing I can do but hope that there's no root rot. But if this is something else and I've misdiagnosed then I want to get ahead of it. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi, yeah probably over watered and maybe a bit of transplant stress. But from what I can see the rest of the plant looks nice and healthy.
Just cut those two bottom leaves off and make sure the soil is nice and dry between feedings. One or two over waterings is not going to get you root rot.
Must be purple stem day, I think this is the third question I have seen on that. As long as there are no other issues (and your funky lower leaves are not really an issue), purple stems are usually just a product of it's genetics and means nothing. I've seen lots of purple stems and never had any issues because of it, but it sure freaked me out the first time I saw it!
I think you are doing good and have nothing to worry about so far. If you see problems spreading to other leaves the first thing to check would be the PH of your water. You may also need CalMag if the water you are using is low on minerals (eg: RO water, Filtered water, etc)
Let us know how things turn out.
Don't panic and carry on! 😎
I totally agree with Cap on the purple stem explanation.
