I am using a SF 2000 LED light source and an in the ninth week of veg. I started with the light dimmed down to 25% at 28-30 inches for the first weeks and have tried to slowly increase the intensity. If I crank it past 35% at the same height, I quickly see praying and sick looking leaves, so I drop it back down and the leaves look much better. I’m about to flip to flower and hesitate to up the intensity. The tent is at a stable 75 degrees F. This is an unknown strain from a plant grown outside in the tropics.
As I progress into flowering, is it necessary to increase the power? 35% seems to be a sweet spot for veg. Could this pheno do better under less intense light? At this point, I don’t want to screw things up.
I just changed the light cycle today and will bump the power to 50% for a couple of weeks and gradually increase after that. Thanks.
You don't want the grow light to be at 35% in veg and then keep it at 35% in flower because you're cutting the amount of light down significantly; you're reducing the amount of light via a reduction in the amount of hours that the grow light is turned on. In flowering, the plant still needs light energy to grow so increasing the percentage will be key when you flip to flower. Look into DLI (Daily Light Integral) to get a better understanding.
