My girls are coming out of seedling into early veg. They’ve just started on their 4th node and am getting ready to transfer from 0.5 gal container to 1.5 gal container. After I transfer I will let them settle in the new container for a few days and start topping and training.
In the meantime I wanted to throw out the question in trying dial in my light situation. I have a Spider Farmer SF-2000 in a 2x4 tent and I am aiming for 400-600 PPFD at this stage. My question is:
@ 24” 100% from canopy = 600-650 PPFD
Is it better for a closer distance of light and lower intensity or 100% intensity and adjust the distance according to my target PPFD?
Thanks for the help!
It’s all a balancing act between power consumption, DLI, and heat. Too close can produce too much heat. Too far can reduce daily light requirements. Too high can use too much power. The key is to find a sweet spot.
one thing to consider: lights normally are less efficient with power maxed out. ~80% is probably more efficient.
