Myself I use paperclips on the edge of my fabric pot and twist ties to the branches to train. They wont constrict the branches if you just do a couple wraps around the branches. They hold well and you can adjust them as you need to train.
@Mike Lefebvre I dig it. I’ve done that before. Now I use the cheap little metal clips from Amazon but the same idea without poking holes. Plus they work on my plastic pots as well 🌱🪴🤙🏻
