Hey all, This isn't my first grow but it's the first time I've seen this.
I'm at the late flowering stage, trichomes are just starting to cloud up so I reckon I have about another 10 days with the QuickOne strain. I've grown this before and never experienced yellowing to this extent.
I understand the biology but want to understand a bit more.
I've been feeding "bloom" for a while so I get that there will be missing nutrients in charge of photosynthesis and I assume the nutrients will be being pushed up into the buds and I certainly wouldn't expect growth.
This picture is a bit lower down near the popcorns

The picture of the bud is from only a few days ago and as you can see things are green at the bud site.

My questions are ...
1. Did I switch to "bloom" nutrients a little too early?
2. Will I get any negative impact from this next 10 days?
3. Can I still use (smoke and cook) the trim if it's yellow?
Thanks all
I think you hit the nail on the head about switching too early. Either that or you may just have needed to step up your nutrients a bit more. It looks like they needed more nitrogen and have for a while. Nitrogen is just as important in flower development but in smaller quantities. Most people underestimate its importance in flower. The plant looks to be about week 6 somewhere to my eye so the fade should only now be starting to happen, though you shouldn't notice it much at this point. Nitrogen toxcicity can lead to airy bud formation and a deficiency can be just as detrimental.
The only negative impact you will see is a further canabalization of the plant from non-essential areas. It doesn't appear the plant has the resources to pull from its vacoules though. If you are feeding synthetic I would suggest running some higher strength nutrients for the next week and then half strength the next week. Last week just water. An extra week might do it some good. Just my opinion though. If you let it go too long the buds will be canabalized to keep the plant alive until the last possible second.
Yes, the trim is still fine if it's yellow but it will have less immune resistance so look out for molds. During cure and dry you are giving chlorophyll a chance to break down. Your plant is already doing that to keep the buds alive.
