Week 4 of flower in foxfarm farm ocean Forrest soil under scorpion Diablo at 55 percent ph runoff is 6.3 , water going in is 6.6, ppm runoff is 771. A few bottom leaves started looking like this about a week ago.
@apsmoke4 the majority if not all Quantum boards on the market have, roughly, between 200-250 leds on them per board. IMO you can grow one plant with 1 quantum board no problem at all. The Diablo has the equivalent of 18 standard QBs. So yeah, it is much different than other lights and has its own set of rules...I would love to be able to use it at 100% all the time, but not at anywhere closer than 30' from the canopy. if your in a grow tent at 7' your left with a plant height cap of roughly 36"..... but if you have the room hell yeah, crank it up, why not.
no issues at all, I've had to bend a couple of main colas a little cause they were getting too close, but other than that I am able to put all concerns about my light aside. just try and remember whether your using a 4x4 or a 5x5 tent you've got total coverage with that light, even in the corners at 36+ inches. you've got 3,888 high power leds on that monster, it can handle being 36" away and still provide all the light you need
@W J Rucier just now seeing your last two responses. Thanks again for all your help about the light! If you don't mind me asking what wattage do you run it on in the veg stage and in the seedling stage? And do you use co2?
@apsmoke4 seedlings never!!! I have a couple HLG 65s at 4000k for my seedlings.....I'll start at 200 watts during veg up to about 400 watts. I'll try to get it up as close to 600 during flower as I can but like I said the light intensity is deceiving. no co2 for me, I have to keep the plants under 4' to maintain at least 30" of space between light and canopy. This light doesn't need CO2 to grow a 4' plant..I've thought about it and I think its safe for me to say that in a grow tent (4x4 or 5x5) you never need to be closer than 30' from canopy with this light. thats not to say you can't get closer under certain conditions, you just don't have too.....
@W J Rucier thanks again for all your input, I really appreciate it! I had someone tell me that I need to run this light 11/13 because the plants are getting too much DLI ( daily light interval ). What do you think?
Most likely seeing problems due to lack of nutrition. 771 PPM is too low for flowering. In flowering you can go past 1000. Depending on the pheno, 1000-1500 and sometimes even higher. That would be my guess.
@Mr. Grow It I was going to chime in a similar answer. When mine use all their nutes before their next feeding they start to yellow at the bottom like this. More feeding amount or go to the next “stage” on the mixing chart of using bottled nutes.
On a side note, in my opinion, it could use some selective de-leafing through the mid and lower plant. It will leave more nutes for the remainder and let her breathe a little. 🌱🪴🤙🏼
need to see the whole plant my man....have you grown with that Diablo yet? or is this ur first run? I ask because I have three, on my fourth now, runs with that light.....first let me compliment you on your choice in lights, You are obviously highly intelligent and did your homework!!!
that being said, I have some advice for you regarding your light......if you are growing in a tent, you need to raise it up, and turn it down!!! GET A WATT METER, Start as high as your tent allows at about 300watts and leave it there....see how they respond, and adjust accordingly.....turn the light up slowly (10-20 watts at a time) and over a 3-5 day period until you get to the intensity you want.. use HLGs PAR report as a guide. for example: if it says at 18" a certain area is 1000ppf then 36" is gonna be 500, and so on. Unless you have an actual PAR meter This is the only thing I could think of doing to wrangle this light, for it is a beautiful beast, and it will devour your plants, if you let it.....They do all the testing at 100%. NEVER, and I don't care how much CO2 your pumping into the tent, put that light closer than 18" at full power!! Unless, you want to see whether or not a light can actually melt a plant..... As for what's wrong with your plant, that's for the other guys to answer, not very good at diagnosis
here is my "Scorpion Diablo Ice" version, I built with DIY boards and heatsinks from HLG.....its ina 4x4 thats been extended into the corner of its space....so its more like a 4.5 x 4...
QB288 V2 RSPEC @ 4
QB288 V2 BSPEC @ 2
QB648 DIABLO @2
2 288r and 1 288b on mw 320/1750 @2
2 QB648 on mw 320/2800
so 900watts+ if I need it...lmao
do you like it??
just in case you are wondering if it works...........
Imo I would give that plant 100%. I know your light isn't much different than mine and they are light hungry.
I run 11/13 myself for flower
