Hello and happy new grow. Hopefully can get these harvested by the new year and I get one more flower cycle in before the Summer break-

Day 1 for the Star Dawg girls
And here is after one week and today-

Survived first week well and healthy so they get mulched a bit to help retain moisture/heat for a loving rooting environment-
1/2G pots from Rain Science allows me to root them just a bit longer than 10-14 days in a solo cup- velcro seam for easy up-potting. The plan at this point is up from these to 3G for Veg and then to 7G for Flower.

Now, see the empty one? Supposed to be a Chocolope growing there but it didn't pop. Nor did the White Widow, also from Growers Choice Seeds thrown in as a freebie. So, I got the last Chocolope I had in that pack and put it into paper towel, saw a bit of root break from the seed and have it dropped....so fingers crossed? Bear in mind in the last year I have had 3 GCS auto seeds not pop vs. everything from 4 or 5 other breeders did, both auto and photo, so I am a little less than impressed.
Anyway.....

it's a 2' X 3' X 5' tent I have for veg or smaller uses. Little humidifier adds 15-20%...nothing major put's it at about 80%...only use like this 2-4 weeks...then it sits on shelf. Super efficient.

Light panel looks huge but it's not- an HLG 135 Bspec. Spectrum for veg cycle only. Helps keep nodes/plants shorter and height controlled.
Well, away we go......WILL the Chocolope sprout? If not I could do another Big Blue Cheese or just do a third Dawg to make sure I have 3 plants...need to fill the space being used and it's a 2' X 6' and I can run 3 in there...(I hate to run the electricity for a grow and not maximize the cost/space usage)
Soilless media mix, Earth Dust nutrients, under 2 Electric Sky 180 V3's- the plan is a 6 wk veg, into Flower Oct. and in the jars by Christmas.
Topping more than once this time so may be a bit longer veg but I am going to lean on them hard during training to have them being healthy beasts and up for the challenge.
We will see-
Stay frosty Growmies!
...at some point I will be witty enough to sign off by riffing on the new sponsor Mr. Grow It has....I am not there yet...but I'm working on it...🤣
(and all in good fun Chris!) Proud of you for branching out the brand!!!
Wrap up- Dawg house cleared-
second week
week 10 Flower
Just a memory pic because I failed to get drying pics in the tent, oi...
After drying, Rightie that finished first was 107 grams and Leftie that took the extra couple of weeks was 162 grams.
Both are involved with the Grove bag post I have up for curing. I promised a wrap up for this Dawg run and I wanted to put a period on it-
Thanks again to all who came along.
On to the next...
Looks great Doc! Fantastic job!
Merry Christmas
Final Dawg comes down-
Hey and hello Growmies! Super busy at the Dr.'S office so lots coming this week-
First off is to get the final Dawg chopped at WEEK 12 (((WTH??)))
Colors came out in the bud trichomes, leaves. The trichome development did not look the same and I think there was some different development with the "ambering" of them. It was a little amber hair inside the bulb of the trichome rather than the entire trichome changing color. But, I reacted to the amber being in the trichome and brought it down-
Some of the whiter pistils didn't dry out as much as I wanted, but the others by it did, ambering started to spread so that is how I based the decision to chop-
I watched pH bit did not do a EC check in the final 10 days- day of chop pH was 6.7 and had not been watered in previous 3-
24 hr. dark before chop (I don't SWEAR by that, just did it because it was convenient this time around)
Chopped over the weekend so it got in there with other plants that have been in for 18 days now. Love harvesting in the winter as that has aided in maintaining the 60/60 average in the dry tent-
Speaking of which, some buds from the first Star Dawg plant after 16 day dry-
Yes, my trimming skills are under development, thank you very much.
Ok, this above one is in the dry tent, I am processing the Auto X-mas grow and have the next grow into veg.
Popping more seeds soon so no grass grows under my feet (ha!)
This was a good grow, lots learned.
Final update to come when dried.
It helps to know your not alone, even when you are.
Thanks for coming along Growmies.
Merry X-Mas.
Update- 2 Dawgs, 1 a Greyhound, the other a pot-bellied Dachshund...
Well Growmies, The one on the right from above post got chopped when she hit the 10-ish % amber at 8 weeks (as advertised)-
We are now at end of week 10 for girl remaining on left-
The one on the left still has not gotten to the amber stage but the trichomes are opaque and cloudy and some of the leaf crystals are starting to just begin to show amber but not the actual bud trichomes as yet.
I am blessed at the moment to have a seperate dry tent set up.
So we wait.
pH fluctuating 6.3-6.6, I have slurried and down to 1-1.2 EC/5-600 PPM
Back at week 7 I watered once with a 1/2 G. of Earth Dust Boost tea unsure of if the slow development was a starving for nutrients when I was looking for a dying off and ending cycle. Just been straight water since, pH'ed and weekly microbe bump.
Leaf colors are definitely coming in and some frost developing, but those pistils are still not completely red and dried out.
But, watching the trichomes and am ready to chop and get in the dry tent when ambered.
I have also put lighting at 11 ON/13 OFF as I have read in several articles that having a benefit at this stage and thought I would give it a try.
Well, that's where the Dawg grow is at Growmies- almost to the end of this part.
The dry is already happening with the one Star Dawg in there with other plants for a Christmas grow I did concurrently with this one. (Blueberry!!)
I'll let you know when this one comes down and more to come-
Stay frosty Growmies!!!
Cool to hear the 7gal are working out good for ya! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Dawgs of a different color-
Hey and Happy post Thanksgiving Growmies.
Well, some positive things going on in the tent. But of the 2 plants, one is ahead of the other for sure.
Trichome check has the one on the left just starting to amber up in the advertised week 8, but the right one is not there.
Bud structure on the right is more leafy and the pistils are not getting the copper color and drying out to be hair like in structure like the left ones-
Canopy of the right one- some red hairs, but lots of underdeveloped white pistils.
The difference has been apparent for weeks between the two and the end result seems to be slower maturity.
Left one has coppered up in color, buds are nice and dense to touch, everything is still super sticky.
These were reading just at 5-10% amber. Checked 4 different bud sites and all were consistent.
Have cut water down just a bit and am letting pH be 6.4 to as high as 7.
Keeping the environment 50% rh
70-72 OFF, 79-81 ON
Soil pH staying right at 6.4 in both pots-
Slurries were 6.3/850 and 6.4/700
I added another fan below angled upwards to ensure airflow for these as well.
I am going to let them ride for the weekend, check early in the week for progress and plan to have the one on the left down by end of next week.
In the auto tent I have going with an extra Christmas harvest, I have a variation of the same issue with 3 plants, all from same pack of seeds, that present as similar in size, but have different pheno characteristics, one of which is a slower maturing rate. So, the slower one of those is probably going to get switched in when this one comes out and let them go a bit longer while the ones that are ready can get chopped and start to dry. A bit more to manage, but great problems to have.
Well, that's it for now.
Have a great week Growmies and I hope you are Thankful for your garden and what you get from it.
Dawg Update-in WK 7
Growmies! Halloo aaaaand good week to you all and I hope the Sun is in your Gardens.
pH is staying in check! Maintaining 6.2-6.7. I am very happy. This is better this time around- 7G bags in the 2 x 4 tent.
we are in week 7 and the girls are slightly different colors, but seem to be rather bushy. I did defoliate, but they are aggressive leafers, to be sure.
I am still picking leaves strategically for airflow and light hitting as much as possible, but am not recovering every single lower, smaller nug- it's just not feasible. Did try to fill the tent with training and net. Happy with that result.
As before with these dry nutrients I am hoping for breakdown and availability as needed. The buds don't seem as developed as they should be for an 8 week strain that I am fully expecting 9 at least. Health over schedule, any day for me, at this point.
It's there, but not there. Just not the trichome level of other examples I have seen- again, I would like to think genetics, but that is awful cocky assuming in all other aspects being dialed, and that's not the smart bet. But i feel confident pH isn't it as it's stayed pretty consistent. Blue Lab pH pen, monthly calibrated.
Well, just wanted to do an update before Thanksgiving. I have not looked at trichomes yet. They are sticky and any pruning is a gooey mess in minutes-
fans below and above canopy-
80°/50-55% ON
72°/50% OFF
GSC ES180 V3
Earth Dust as directed, split last Boost feed between top dress and 2 tea applications a week apart-
4 applications Advanced Nutrients Sensi Mag Cal Extra every other week from v4.
Adjust soil pH via water pH-
KISS methodology as much as possible.
OK Growmies, just checking in here, I hope your gardens have your attention.
...the holidays are looming......
Have a great week!!
Halloween StarDawg update-
Hey and hello Growmies!
Just a quick update for the Dawgs-
Well, I attempted a trellis net.
Attempted being the operative word here......
...These girls...eh...not really having it. I tried.
I will try again. I have more net.
The canopy was pretty even you saw from the last post, but the stretch, yeah...well, some tops stretched and my technique was not developed enough to keep the canopy contained.
Let's stay positive. Plants are alive, mostly green-
So, we got that going for us....
Week 4 of Flower for the ladies and holding the #'s in line- pH 6.2-.4, did a slurrie test right as I added second Earth Dust Boost to top layer but 2/3 amount called for. PPM's were around 1K, but not sure exactly how much of that was broken down and available to plant. My assumption (hope) is not all. Last 1/3 I will split between 2 "tea" type liquid feeds hopefully really making sure in the 4-7 week phase they have plenty of available food in the soil and watch my pH at same time. I have had last 2 runs my pH got wonky around week 5 and I fought it till harvest. Really have a goal of staying on top of that completely this time around.
Some of that stuff on the lowers have tops right at or above canopy level above the net, so I am leaving them- The bigger fan leaves that are lower with nothing below them I figured would be ok as well. They are getting some light...will take them if they yellow up tho-
The stretching is just so unpredictable- I tried to bend the tallest tops, but the bud tops would get damaged it seems... I feel the light is pretty even on the canopy. I don't feel there is a radicle PPFD difference that is going to cause the buds to develop at different rates, but, still growing.
Tops are starting to fill in a bit. Need to defoliate just a bit more.
Well, this is the boring bit of the grow folks. It's a bit of a mess, sure but working on it every day.
Plus there is an auto tent in the Garden that is hell on wheels and is SO much more time consuming- so not a fan of Auto's, ugh-
Well Growmies week 4 done and week 5 and 6 are really where I have prepared for, nutrients are in the dirt, I HOPE break down in time to be needed, stay on the pH situation, strategic defoliate to get light to tops, talk to them everyday and jazz music often.
Have a great week Growmies and stay frosty!!
Doggos in Flower-
Hello and good week to all- back for the online journal of the Fall Dawgs...
Well, flipped last weekend and here we are after week 1...maintaining 6.2-6.4 pH, slurries showing 2K PPM, but amendments still breaking down- they dried out a bit this week. adding Microbial Mass this weekend, Recharge next weekend then they should be ready for final top dress with Earth Dust Boost on third weekend-
Going to defoliate a bit to allow for light to reach as much as possible-
before her trim-
and after-
Now to make one on left look like one on right- I am looking to see a bit of mulch
Canopy staying pretty even
This week's project is to get the trellis net in place and let it do the work of spreading the sites out-
after trim-
So, adding trellis, maintaining pH, maintaining soil moisture- goals for the week
I hope all is well in your gardens Growmies- stay Frosty!
Definitely some fantastic looking plants! Great job as always Dr.!
It's THAT time....everything grows....
BIG week at the Dr.'s office Growmies!!!
The girls were ready for a bigger pot to grow and the up pot happened from 3 gallon to 7's....
This is the root ball out of the 3 gallon next to the 7-
Soil has been in container, mixed, for 47 days-
side, roots are white at bottom...rice hulls in soil as well
Bottom of root ball
Pre mixed into soil, Recharge top dressed and sprinkled on root ball pre transplant- Earth Dust/Green Sunshine Company
Texas Worm Ranch receives orders until Friday morning, bags orders over the weekend and ships out Monday morning express. I am 5 states away and have always received by Thursday- their castings report results are published by SoilFoodWeb/Dr. Elaine Ingram on their opening page-
if you grow in soil, it would behoove you to know her name-
After transplant-
.....ok... my next step is to defol a bit and get some mulch in. That plant on the right's yellowing problem from I hope being hungry maybe being aggravated from feeding that damn forest of a canopy.....
Love these Rain Science bags for the optional grommets for LST tie access-
Yeah, yeah, ...it's ugly but I hope effective-
OK, first time seeing edges of pots thru the damn canopy.... the week of transplant seems to really have helped the color a bit as well on Rightie...
OK....OK...it's round....sorta....
....and it's a semi- consistent canopy for going into Flower...except that damn cowlick on the right....
...they needed a bigger tent as well...it's now a 2' X 4'...
my opinion is about 2 weeks too long in veg- immediately thinking of a 2G veg/5G Flower set next run-
Well Growmies, that's where we are at for this week.
I am watching them closely and if nothing develops by Monday, will flip the light cycle.
...and away we go...
Have a great week!!!
Dawgs of a different color...
Hello and good week Growmies!
just an update on the Star Dawg grow- 5th week of veg.
I have been wondering about the color difference on the girls and after a slurrie test the pH is solid at 6.2 and 6.4 but after expecting the yellowing plant to be the lower # it was the greener one that had lower ppm's- 200 vs. 4-500 which is in the okay zone so I am unsure what to think of it-
Still working that canopy shape as the MAIN priority- stalks are thicker and very resistant to bending and need tied- the up pot will aid with that-
base of stalks nice and sturdy, very happy with that-
Rightie just made me think there was a problem with the discoloration, but PPM's are higher with her-
Lighter colored leaf from Rightie-
Side by side of the 2 plant leaves and the color difference-
Plant on the Left-
I am hoping the up potting this week to their Flower pot will help the situation- the leaf structure is okay, and she is acting like she is supposed to as far as training, watering, droopy when thirsty and praying to the light...
Dunno...they are not dead yet- so...
Opinions? Thoughts? They are up potting this week to 7 gallon bags. I will get pics of roots and show top dress for Flower ingredients-
Have a great week Growmies!!!
The training continues!!
The girls are outgrowing the damn house...
Well it's been a we-... oh FFS.... Nurse! Please come get Ella!!!!!! ....sorry folks....
Well they are growing and I hope all the action is under the soil!! The slightly larger one on right is just persisting with staying slightly yellowed and looking hungry... I added a small veg tea for her and she has improved, but is not that deeper green like her Sis....but both are drinking like sailors on leave and staying at 6.3-6.5 pH....
Limey-er looking one on right- lowers are reaching fine. I am liking the canopy development shape-wise thus far-
Opened the side of the Radicle bag- Root ends are starting to appear...not thick but a few peeking up and down and that is what I am looking for-
Training her hard- bending her over and pinned down- she is bending up and reacting well-
Maintaining pH- did another application of Microbial Mass this week-
am alternating that and Recharge during veg- root development products- the plan is to topdress some worm castings next weekend and then get her up-potted by the first and finish training, make sure she is healthy and get her flipped to flower- she popped from seed on 8/1, 2 month seed and veg, hopefully 2 month Flower-
I will get a PPM reading before getting her out of the 3G. pot because I want to see how much of the Earth Dust Base mix is still reading. I anticipate it being higher than what is actually available to the plant- I have added a tea to one so I have that to compare to the other as well-
Have a great week all- LOVE up on those plants!!!!😍
Progress after 3 weeks of veg-
Hello and good weekend Growmies!
The girls have been really growing. Pulling, bending and twisting on the daily now- I was watering every 3 days to now every other.
I am still establishing good canopy shape but the branches are getting longer and pulling farther down.
Stalk growth really fast and strong. Using the pins to hold down. Maintaining a target of 6.3 pH- ranging actually from 6.1-6.7 but they seem to be rolling with it- I plan on a ppm reading after uppotting them but before first Earth Dust "Boost" feed for Flower.
Topsoil is drying out quickly. Will mulch in hay when get to Flowering pot to help-
So, I put these in the 3 G. bags 20 days ago from the 1/2 G bags. There is already some root ends out bottom that did not air prune. I did not see lots of ends when I looked, so the sides are still catching up. This is a good sign these girls will benefit from the uppotting to the 7 G.'s. Here is hoping the next week will be explosive-
OK- Have a great week Growmies!
Week 3 Veg- going hard at the ladies!
Hey and good weekend growmies!
Nothing but growth for the Star Dawgs and I believe we have a big Sister/little Sister situation developing here...
This week- development on Left nice and round, getting good canopy beginnings...these are 33 days from popping ground. pH 6.2-6.4 3/4 gallon@ every 2-3 days
Have got them both bent over to the edge of the pot. This one pinned down as well along main stalk and top tied to pot edge. I also pinned some bottom branches back to aid in canopy shape-
Bent over and pinned down. Raising up lower branches, bending taller ones down and tucking the leaves and exposing top sites as best I can.
I will do this 2 or 3 times a day, then skip a day for recovery, then train them a day. I look a couple of times a day on the skip days and will still bend any specific branch sticking up above canopy down.
Plan on waiting a couple of more weeks to flip to flower. Also growing some autos concurrently attempting to finish out all together for community dry. The Auto's also popped this week and I am looking at 85-90 days with them and a 7-8 week Flower for these Star Dawgs so will probably look at week of 20th and access.
I hope your weekend is going well and happy Labor day Growmies!
Great job so far as always Dr. Ozzy! You certainly have things dialed in nicely
Lookin good😎
Stardawgs second week of veg.-
Oh and hello growmies!
OK, for those tracking the post, the Chocolope was a no go- all 3 beans from Growers Choice from that pack did not pop- so, the grow is going to be the 2 Stardawgs from MSNL.
The plan is a shorter veg and get them into Flower.
This is beginning wk 2 V, after going 18 days in the 1/2 G.'s
Day 18 I put them into the 3 G pots to veg them.
These seeds broke ground the morning of the 1st this month.
Day 18- 1/2 G. bags-
tight nodes- HLG Bspec performing as advertised. Topped the main and the top 2 branches for now. Going to let her recover and access from there. If she stays healthy and on track I am only looking for a few more inches of growth. It's about canopy development at this point- will strip lowers up to 3rd or 4th when get to defoliating-
in the 3 G. pots. On the left I have bent her over, twisting the stem and loosing it up. Pops and breaks, on the gentler side. Not a "break" rather than a "loose, liquid, slow snap" type of thing. They are young, but the longest part of the stalk is very thick. I have topped, topped and topped- the main stalk, and the top 2 branches on the end.
Top view left and right before and after bending and twisting-
Both after bending down-
I have re-equiped the veg tent above in the post with an AC Infinity 4" Cloudline and 67 controller and will be using the Green Sunshine Company's Electric Sky 180 V3 in the 2' X 3' Agromax tent. I will up pot these to 7 G. bags for Flower and am looking to flip them around Labor Day, the good Lord willing and the pH don't rise....
Will continue with the bending and see if they continue signs of virility.
pH 6.5 ppm 8-900 high for veg but the dry amendments are still breaking down so not sweating that. Holding off on mulching until up pot to flower-
Earth Dust Base and OptiVeg only nutrient additive-
Have a great week Growmies, touch your plants everyday because you BOTH feel better!
Looks like a great start so far! Thanks for sharing your grow with us
Rolling with it-
One week later for the Star Dawgs* showing lots of growth and not to leggy-
media at a 6.8pH, 80F, 70%-ish RH
So I took these last night. That Chocolope* by Thursday had still not come up. I had reserved myself to the 3 pack of beans I had gotten had been bad- I had taken the pot out of the tent and had put it on the table figuring I would put the soil back in my storage tub and had planned to later today- this morning I made coffee and walked by the kitchen table and saw a small dot of color in the dirt- and lo and behold-
"Are you kidding me??"
.....well, here we are. From Thursday evening to this morning sometime, OUT of the tent and just sitting on the kitchen table, it sprouted...
So, the pot is dry but I gently watered a bit back in and will carefully attempt to re hydrate the media and see what happens. Added hay mulch and cupped it. I guess first I want to make sure it's what I hope it is and not a bit of grass or something else. I have noticed grass and weeds in my pots the last couple of grows and I just left it for cover crop material. Also gives any potential pests another option rather than what I am growing in the container-
So, we'll see if it survives.
The little veg space is needed next week for large harvest project so these little ladies go into the shared closet with everything else.
Well, that's it for here for now -
Lot's going on this week in the Dr.'s office so watch me learn and make
mistakes!
Have a great week Growmies!
