Hey everyone, So I'm in the market for a decent par meter. I recently bought a new light and I think having one would be beneficial. I was wondering what par/ppfd meter y'all were rockin these days? I'm thinking I might buy the Apogee MQ 500... but I'd be eating beans n rice for the next month if I did. Anyone have some decent suggestions under the $530 price point?
Please? 😂
If you have LED grow lights, the Apogee MQ-620 gives you an extended range. The MQ-500 is solid too though. Both are very expensive though and over your budget. Maybe they will have a sale soon? lol
@gregthe357 thanks for the response.
..and we've all been there with amazon.
Received the Apogee 500 yesterday. I have 4 plants on day 14 from sprout. My light is to big to adjust properly every time the plants grow. I have it hanging 36" from their canopy@ 300 par. I'm introducing co2 to my garden this grow and I would like to dial in the perfect light intensity. .... and I much rather spend the money and have it for years to come.. rather than buy some cheap amazon bullshit thats going to last me 6 mo.
Apogee is top of the line. I have considered buying one, its just that I dont really think the price is worth how often I would use it. I hope it helps you out.
Yeah it is. I just didnt expect to shell out $4,000 for a setup. The par meter will be my last big investment for awhile. Hopefully with some luck, I'll only have to buy soil, and distilled water for many moons to come.
Isn’t that always the way?
There is an app for iPhone called Photone that was reviewed on Youtube which did very well compared with the high price par meter. It's only $5.00. You have to put a piece of paper (standard copy paper) over the front camera lens to defuse the light then add 10% to the amount of the reading. I have it and it seems to work really well. I do not think this app is in Play store for android. They have apps for android but the review I saw did not rate them very well.
