Does anyone have a favorite video or in depth article on plant sex organs and Identifying hermies? Have found a few videos on YouTube but they still leave me with questions.
Wow that’s crazy. You check daily and remove immediately? I’ve read heat and light and cause hermaphroditism. I’ve had plenty of that this summer. Recently bought some panda film for my window and a portable AC unit for my grow room.
Yeah i was lucky enough to kill off the plant before the pollen sacs opened up. If they were to open, then all the female plants would have been pollinated and I would've had seedy bud.
Yeah unfortunately even after the plant shows pistils, you should continue to inspect your plant for pollen sacs - especially the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. I had a plant herm out on me last grow even after I got it DNA sex tested through Farmer Freeman and the result was female.
Ironically I just read that article of yours yesterday as I was researching. My main issue is undetected hermaphroditism. I guess I thought once you identified your plants as females, you were into the clear. I didn’t know you had to stay vigilant for pollen sac formation. I have a huge problem with seedy bud. I don’t know when it started or how to fix it. I sent a picture of what I thought was a pollen sac to my son and he told me I was looking at a swollen calyx. So it appears I have more research to do.
Thanks for your help.
Our last two plants had dozens of seeds. We mostly cut it up for trim for RSO. Very little smokable bud. 😞
Hoping for better luck with the next two plants.
No, you can still grow out the females. You don't have to kill them. Like I said in the previous post though, they will have seeds inside the buds.
When you have an undetected hermie, is your whole grow ruined? Can you remove the plants, bleach out your tent and hope for the best?

What questions do you have? Maybe we can help.
Here's one article I wrote awhile back which talks about male vs female. It's doesn't talk about hermies though https://www.mrgrowit.com/post/2018/03/15/sexing-your-cannabis-plant-male-vs-female Here's an article that talks about hermies and shows some good pictures: https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-plant-problems/male-plants-hermies-bananas
