I recently bought 3 clones to dip my toes into cultivation. Conditions up until now have been rough to say the least. I’ve kept them near a window during natural daylight hours, then move them under a weak lamp for the remaining hours of the 16hr light cycle in the evening. At night, I turn off the lights and leave them in my living room, but light from devices, passing cars etc is surely getting to them throughout the night.
With temps dropping and daylight savings time, I think it’s finally time to buy some gear. Plants have been in veg (in conditions above) for about 2 months now, with VERY little growth and some hiccups with getting too wet or too dry from time to time as LA's psycho weather fluctuates.
My primary Q’s are as follows.
While I currently have 3 plants, I plan on getting 1-2 more plants in the future and have been eyeing this Spider 48x48x80 tent. Would this be overkill for my current 3-plant setup?
If I do get a 4x4 tent, what size and how many LEDs would I need?
Is there an alternate solution for me altogether, given my current 3 plant setup with ambitions for adding more?
1. It really depends on how big you plan to grow the plants. You can veg 3 plants in a 4x4 and full up that grow space wall-to-wall if you want to. Five medium-sized plants work well in a 4x4; sometimes I like running 4 in a 4x4 so I have a little bit more space to work. If you're growing small plants, you could shove 6 (or even more) plants into that space. Grow pot size will also be a factor.
2. I personally like running 2 lights in a 4x4 so that way if some plants stretch to be taller than others, you can keep one light low and have the other light higher. Running two lights in that grow space can also provide a better light spread across the footprint. 3. I persoanlly think you hit the nail on the head going with a 4x4 for what you explain.
