Hi everyone.
This is a update on my 2x2 grow. I’m a novice grower on my first real attempt growing with living soil as the medium In 5 gallon fabric pots. I feel like things have run fairly smooth so far, but I do have some questions.
I’ve had a crack at my first attempt of LST, I did find it a little daunting initially. I have learnt things in this grow already that will definitely help me for my next attempt.
My girls are at day 43 (closer one in video,Purple Power)and day 41 ( the back one, Green Crack).
On average , how much should I be looking to water at this stage. Feeding seems to be every 2nd day, with the last 3 feeds of 1.25L for each plant. I’m trying to avoid runoff, but I’m not even sure if that’s what I should be doing?
Mr GrowIt, I thought I read somewhere on here a response you had to someone’s question about how much you water a 5 gallon pot, but haven’t managed to find that post again. Was the answer 1 gallon of water for a 5 gallon pot? My girls are week 7 and start of 3rd week of flower.
Ive found that the top of the living soil is drying out at 2 days, even with a sugar cane mulch cover.Should I be steadily increasing the watering amount at this flower stage by say an extra 250ml each feed day?
This is them after I did a trim today. As a new grower, I’m stoked with how they are going. Any advice or tips always welcome.
Cheers Sam.
It's really difficult to give you an exact amount since there are several variables. For example, how moist the medium currently is, your environment's conditions, genetics, and size of the plant are just some. Some growers will do a half gallon, some will do a full gallon. A general rule is to water when the tip inch or so is bone dry - but that's often said for when growing with synthetic nutrients only and that if growing organic you will want to keep the medium moist at all times. One last technique to mention is the 5% rule. That is, water 5% of the amount of the grow pot. Some will actually do 10% instead. So for a 5-gallon grow pot, 5% is .25 gallons. Sorry this answer is all over the place but it's really difficult to give you an exact amount since there are several variables.
