Hi folks growing in HP promix with salt based nutes.
so my plants are 5 feet or so tall halfway through flower. And I have been feeding them 1 gal of water to 5 gal smart pot when they feel dry. My partner now has decided to feed them twice as often with half as much water . Seems like more work to me. My question is does changing the watering cycle like this have any benefit or is it more work? Will this have any adverse effect on the plant? thanks
Keeping the medium moist is key, but not too wet or else there could be a lack of oxygen by the root zone and you could encounter over-watering symptoms. Either one of those methods of watering should be fine. Although, since you're using synthetic nutrients, salts can build up in the medium so watering until you get 10-20% runoff or flushing 1-2 times throughout your grow may be necessary to avoid nutrient lockout.
I think your method was best. Helps to keep the salts from building up to give them a thorough watering.
