As the trichomes turn amber they are converting THC to CBD, hense the more couch-lock feel. I harvested my last run with very few ambers and it all turned out great. But I have also waited for 30-40% ambers and that run turned out fine as well. So I guess it is kind of a personal preference.
First time grower here and I’m in the same phase. According to Mr Grow’s book, checking trichomes is imperative and when they’re mostly cloudy with some amber, it’s time. Percentage of Amber is unknown to me. Maybe an experienced grower can weigh in.

Thank you all but I’m pretty sure I harvested early
Most growers use a microscope to see the color of the trichomes while other growers don't have a microscope so will instead look at the color of the pistils. I wrote an article awhile back with more details: https://www.mrgrowit.com/post/2017/05/28/when-to-harvest-your-cannabis-plant
