I don't direct grow from soil, I sprout the tap root in wet paper towel, then to soil. Once I put in soil I leave the light on 17 hours. That light is the sprouts road map to surface. Have had some in past I had in darkness and they made a couple loops in soil and never broke surface.
@mwhite9829 Thank you for your reply. It does get confusing as people do different things. But with your answer I think I know where I'm going now. I will let you know the outcome in a couple of days. Thank you.
when the seed is planted it needs moisture and darkness . as soon as it sprouts then i put the light in a low intensity . for the first 2-3 weeks i have lights 24 hours onand then depends on the type of cannabis you are growing photoperiod or autoflower. look around you can find a lot of info . hope i helped you.
I like to put the planted seeds under an 18/6 light cycle so that way when they sprout from the medium they will immediately have light.
