I've heard of stem splitting; I actually just spoke to someone on my podcast and he said stem splitting is bro science. That episode should be released this weekend. Yes, running a fan 24/7 while drying is advised in order to prevent humid pockets from forming in your dry environment leading to mold. Just make sure the fan isn't blowing directly onto the buds.
