I'm hoping to keep costs down and go for a budget option. I'm willing to spend $400 total approx. Is this doable and are things on list which can be omitted or subbed for cheater ootion? Thanks
If you keep the door open then that can provide fresh air. You can use an oscillating fan to push air into that space. Either that or cut out ventilation.
Thanks for the list. With an exhaust fan, will I need to make a hole in the ceiling for the air to exit into the ceiling? Also, do I need to block out all external light, so the LED lights are the only light source that the plants receive ?
I am not sure whether I will use bottled or organic nutrients. I'm visiting a hydroponic store tomorrow to research and get advice and pricing. Do you have a preference?
Can you provide a picture of the space so we can see? Yes, during the darkness period, all lights should be off or covered. Many new growers start with bottled nutrients since they can be a bit easier in some ways.
Yes you can make it work. First, can you post a picture of your grow space? Please also include LxWxH as that will be needed to determine a few things. Also, do you have your ventilation figured out?
The grow space is 26Lx30Wx78H (inches). I haven't bought any equipment for the space and I am compiling a list. Not sure about ventilation, it is an alcove in a walk in wardrobe, which is part of my bedroom. I don't have ventilation worked out and don't want to have to saw into the ceiling for a ventilation duct.
I'm looking at LED lighting for 1-2 plants, a grow tent, fan/s, timer. As I am in Australia, equipment will generally be more expensive at hydroponic shops, but I am comparing prices to eBay, Amazon.
@Nicholas Price Ok, 26"x30" is an odd-sized space. Most grow light companies make their lights for a square footprint such as 24"x24" or 36"x36" ... If you're looking to go as cheap as possible, you may just want to go with a light for a 24"x24" space. You could absolutely do 1-2 small plants in that area. Also, I was going to say you don't actually need a grow tent; you could just hang the light in the space to save money. If you don't care to hide the smell, you can skip the carbon filter also.List of equipment:Grow light

Hi,
Here are two photos of the space.
Thanks Nick
