I have a 6” carbon filter above my lights in tent. It’s 8 weeks old from setup. Airflow was great. It’s down to zero. I removed the cover. Improved slightly. I thought that would be it. I removed the filter totally and the inline fan is back to what it once was. Obviously the charcoal filter is the problem.
i have a well. Very clean water had it checked. I use this water in my humidifier. I believe this is the cause. I normally run my inline fan at a low speed. did I ruin the filter using a humidifier inside the tent? Maybe I was sold a crappy filter?
what happened to it and how do I prevent it from happening again? Is it junk now?
Thanks so much. I can’t find an answer anywhere.
Jim
Glad to hear you got it settled.
I reached out to hydrobuilder.com where I got it. They moved fast to get this done for me. The manufacturer of the filter is sending a new one out pronto. Great customer service from both of them.
Do you see white mineral buildup in your tent, plants, equipment, or anywhere? Water with minerals in it put into humidifiers will clog carbon filters. Seems like every month or two someone posts about that problem.
@raginwaldo96 yeah I have no idea man. This is the first time I had heard about humidity possibly clogging a filter. I have to side with Greg, I'd almost guess that maybe your cfm is to low for that filter.
My humidity is always high and I've never had a problem. What kind of inline fan do you have? Is it strong enough to pull through that filter? Also, I've never tried to clean mine with water before.
Well that’s what I’m guessing. how else could it clog? Assuming it’s clogged. I’ve read on here that minerals may clog the filter cover but when I removed it there was almost no improvement. The humidifier is being filled twice daily to keep the tent at 50-60% humidity. Small humidifier so nothing out of the ordinary. Isn’t that normal for a filter to deal with some humidity?
What does the humidifier do to the filter? Gets the inside of the filter wet? @raginwaldo96
