I have seen pretty dark water come out of Happy Frog with the first watering but, if its new soil i dont feed till i know the roots have used up all the Happy Frog soil nutes already there. Just a thought.
How fresh is the soil ? If its fresh soil from a transplant and not been plain watered yet then i would think thats why ppm is high on the runoff. We’ll see what the Man has to say.
@D K The best results I've gotten with FoxFarm trio (also in FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil) is when doing a water-feed-water-feed. If the PPM got a little too high for my liking, i'd go water-water-feed from there. I would start with a half dose of nutrients according to their feeding chart and then read the plant:
- If the leaves lighten up then I would feed the plant a slightly higher dose of nutrients the next time it needed to be fed.
- If the leaves stay about the same color then I'd continue on 1/2 dose (water-feed-water-feed)
- If the leaves become abnormally dark, I'd reduce down the nutrients
I would always monitor the runoff PPM which helped me know how much to feed.
I also found many strains I grew using FoxFarm trio needed more phosphorus. So I ran this PK Booster [https://amzn.to/2H3baRq ] in flowering weeks 4-6. That helped significantly.

I am pretty sure you wont be disappointed. Go easy at first with an easy feed. Water feed Water after. Grow on.
