Which Light system should I get for a 4'x4'x80" VIPARSPECTRA tent (Just Purchased). Is there a light system I can buy for all three grow levels or do I have to buy a seedling lamp separate.
Now since Chris put out his top picks I decided to go with the roi-680. I should have it in a few weeks unless some other brand catches my eye. I'm building my setup slowly especially since the lights are the most expensive. The seeds are in route so I have to store them away for a while. This will create a new topic. The best way to store my seeds.
I think you'll really like it. I ran it for several grows with lots of success. I believe it's priced a decent amount cheaper than a lot of the other grow lights with that coverage area. Be careful not to put it on full blast to begin. I actually got away with running it at 80% throughout flowering. It's a very powerful light! Congrats on your purchase!
If cost doesn't matter, I have the growers choice roi-680. Its like having my own personal star. In a 5x5, great from start to finish. Most l.e.d.s have dimming functions if your worried about your babies.
@gregthe357 I was going to get the ROI 680 but it seemed as if I had to buy the controller separately? Idk, it confused the shit outta me, so I got the Chilled Tech Growcraft X6 instead. I still wonder if I made a sound decision by bypassing up the ROI-680.
@SinnerSpread The X6 is a really good light! Basically equal in performance IMO but there are some differences. You don't need the controller with the ROI-E680 but the dimmer only does 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, whereas, the X6 you can dim any level. You made a good choice IMO!
Why did you introduce me to Green Sunshine. Now I'm getting the ES300 V3. Thank you for your help. Expensive as hell but worth it. Now I will be eating rice and beans for a year.
@SinnerSpread@Mr. Grow It is a master at par and ppfd. He's the reason I stopped hating on led and took down my halides. So nice not fighting the temps anymore.
@mwhite9829 Yeah I agree. The articles and the youtube vids really simplified what the heck I was looking for. Now there is only a handful of led companies I will even consider.
As for the seedlings, I think I am going to give the x6 a shot. You said, you start at 4'. X6 is a 600w, you think maybe dim it down to around 40% or?
Probably a loaded question lol .. I'll just try to find some charts online 😅✌️
@FraSol61 All good brother. Both Green Sunshine and Growers Choice are great companies. Frankly you could do a blind taste test and still come out on top, with either light.
Guess that would depend on your budget. You can grow either way. One thing you will be buying though is tape, to cover up all the light leaks Viparspectra provides.. I know, I own one.
Back to your question, I use a separate space for seedlings/early veg. Using a small T5 for this space would be perfect. I tend to use the 4x4 tent for mid veg thru flower, using a reg led with a full spectrum and a full 4x4 footprint.
@SinnerSpread I used T5 for a long time for clones and seedlings. In the past year I've went led from start to finish. I piece by piece switched all my lights with the maxisun leds. I just have different heights for different stages. The T5s never did me wrong and worked very well, still have them around and use them for for starting our veggies and flowers until the greenhouse holds enough warmth to put them outside. When I started growing the whole grow was T5s 😂. Will never put down the usefulness of T5s.
@mwhite9829 Hey brother! You have the day off, or is it a union break? 😄 I actually have a quick question for you .. I just bought the Chilled Growcraft X6 (and yeah I'm going to be eating beans n rice for awhile after that one), you think seedlings would be ok with it dimmed down? I think I should just stick with the T5 lol that x6 scares me 😅
@SinnerSpread should be, when I switched lights I started hanging higher and lowered if the plants were stretching more then I wanted to. The leds I'm using I start the seedlings at a little over 4 ft, and slower lower to around 30" as they growth then start raising away in flower. That's the one thing I miss about the T5, can damn near touch the plant and be ok 😂
I'm going with one of your top choices. ES300 V3. Thank You!

Not sure if that will link or not, but this is found in the article section.
The cost does not matter. Can I get the SPIDER FARMER SF-2000 LED Grow Light 2x4 ft Coverage Compatible with Samsung LM301B Diodes & MeanWell Driver Dimmable Grow Lights Full Spectrum for Indoor Hydroponic Plants Veg Bloom 606pcs LEDs -------bc i'm worried it says Hydroponic. I'm starting with only 4 plants bc it's my 1st grow and I don't want to ruin all the seeds I bought from MSNL. Than later I will buy another 2x4 to fill the tent space once I learn. or should I get the SPIDER FARMER SF-4000 LED Grow Light 5'x5' Coverage Compatible with Samsung LM301B Diodes Dimmable Commercial Grow Lights for Indoor Plants Full Spectrum 3000K 5000K 660nm 760nm IR 1212pcs LEDs or could I get either one.
