This is a very subjective question without know your setup but here goes. Generally top dressing won’t be effective for a few days as it takes time to break down. After that I will not top dress again for 30 days unless I begin to notice signs that extra nutrition is needed. I also up-pot into freshly amended soil and I don’t top dress when I do this.
