I am a newer grower, but long time gardener. I am taking Dr. E Ingham's living soils course.
As I am going to dip my toe into the commercial grow industry, I am learning as much as I can indoors before our big jump. I am interesting in any input you may have on microbial innoculants and fungal innoculants you may have tried and what the results were. Also, was the cost worth result? One area I am interested in is Fras . .
Also does anyone have any experience with using cover crops aside from just clover?? Other legumes, or flowers that changed your end product (good or bad).
I am doing 15 gal fabric pots and one 5 gal bucket. The big pots are not doing as well as the 5 gal homer bucket. I am suspecting due to the soil drying out too quickly.
The only actual issue I have had so far is on one plant that was "Scrogged" is it has shown Potassium Deficiency. All the other plants that were not "Scrogged" have not had any problems at all.
I am a novice hemp/canna grower but have a wealth of knowledge/info on growing plants in and out of doors so ask me any questions you may have as well. My current focus is on raising Brix levels Naturally as this is what keeps the plant from being consumed by insects. Also raising terp levels (for those who aren't aware this is a stress response).
I am planning on running some Auto-Fems in my next round.
FYI: 4'x4'x6' tent
Panthr X II 600w
No Syn nutes
Plant Varieties: 2 "Wife" (Industrial Hemp/Below .3% THC) Bag Seed
2 CB Dream (C K Seeds) Fem
1 Blue Haze (C K Seeds) Fem ((5 Gal Bucket)) also doing the best.
Just kicked over to flower 12/12 light cycle
Was running 18/6 during veg
When I was defoliating during veg the B.D. fans were sticky but not too fragrant.
With all that being said, I understand different strains react slightly differently, but fundamentals and basics are always going to be your foundation and that is the true area I am interested in expanding.
Jump in and give me any tips you may have!!
Thanks to all.
This is a flower on the that same (above) plant. Very strong if you keep em fed. I will get these guys done before they get cut. I didn't give up or use chems. I won't be smoking bugs, I'll be smokin' buds.
Keep after it
This was the plant that the mites started. the specs are the media the preditory mites comes in. If you look at the leaves you can see the damage/discoloration from the spider mites. I have been using cheap vodka and a q-tip to the underside of as many leaves as possible. I have been spending 30-45 minutes a day doing this!!! I have made a HUGE difference!!!
I increased my RH and added more air movement. All these actions have knocked them down. I do have another blend of preditors on the way to stabilize the enviro. The plant is still throwing massive triches. Same CB Dream. I am going to treat with corn tea tomorrow and have done a lacto treatment as well.
Remember this is my first grow . . . Still going. feeding SSTs and molasses waterings.
CB Dream CK seeds really stretched scrogg. Put on lots of dense flowers and smell very orangey and light. Nice plant but not very resistant to bugs.
Wife Industrial Hemp the main stalks are 6-8" for scale
Update!
The one I broke off, just stretched and is flowering now !!!!
The bugs are not winning. I got my mites on the the coldest day of the year -0.
I didn't see much life . . . I did order a new combo that are more suited to my conditions. I did find out why the s. mites showed up, so that can be watched for next time. I also have been using enzymatic teas and WOW. I'm working with other things too right now. The next plants will be sweet.
I feel like I'm learning the secret moves on a video game all in one day.
So I have released the mites and innoculated the soil with nematodes. However, where most are producing buds my sativa has frozen.
She has never shown signs of herm but its been three weeks + and it hasn't done anything. I can't do any better with light leaks and I went from 12/12 to 10/14. No pistol formation yet. It started to go right in the beginning and grew what you would think as sugar leaves. But no pistol formation at all. it has just frozen. Any suggestions?/!
Do you have a fan or a heater blowing onto that spot?
So . . Week 2.5 of flower (this is a Hemp plant((The Wife)) and this is what I am dealing with. Not moving up from bottom to top, not everywhere, just in select areas and only on this one plant . . ??
Only things are some deficientcy, or damage from week one flowering defoliation . .
Help?/!
Welcome to the forum! Looks like you have some good knowledge and you have a great grow setup.
about week two Blue Haze CK seeds (Fem)
This pic was about week four (was running two lights ((250w MH and a 150w LED cheap chinese)) I didn't have my nice Panthr X 2 yet. I was running both veg and flower switched on the LED.
This was week four as well. Some of the fans leaves were larger than my hand.
Pic of current understory the one one the front right was scrogged.
just switched my lights over and went to 12/12 from 18/6 after 36 hr of darkness. I think I may have overwater . . .
two rear are Wife industrial hemp, two front are CB Dream and center is Blue Haze. . . two levels of trellis netting plants are about 26" tall on the short side.
Current conditions for flower . .
When Vegging it was 78-80 and best RH was 68-75%
My top dress is a mixture alfalfa meal, linseed meal, dried Menhaden meal, some DE for calcium, Kelp meal, bentonite clay, and azomite for trace minerals.
How often are you needing to water? I've noticed running 5g in my 4x4 that the pots take too long to dry out so I'm not watering or feeding as often as I would like. It was recommended to me to use 3g in a 4x4 which I'm going to run next crop.
