Hi Everyone.
This is my first time posting on the forum so I wanted to thank Chris (Mr Grow It) for this great community. I follow your Youtube page and bought your book which helped me a lot.
As you can figure I am very new to growing and i got two bags of seeds from my friend that had bought them from a seed store but couldn't remember what type they were. I was able to find info on them from the sticker on the bag and a bit of Googling.
What I have:
Bag 1: Jack Herer, Feminized, Autoflower
Bag 2: Gelato, Feminized, Photoperiod
My question is: can I grow both plants in the same tent or am I risking it? I already germinated and planted the Jack in a 3 gallon pot and the Gelato in a 16oz cup.
Thanks,
Thanks guys, the smell is changing slowly but surely.
I now have a problem with my Gelato. While I was turning the plant I broke a stem that had a bud on it, when inspecting the bud I discovered it is turning into a hermie. I still have 2-3 weeks before harvesting, should I just leave the plant alone or try to take them out?
I agree with what @Cap Stone says. Give it time :)
Thanks Cap, I'll keep curing and burping.
I made edibles with the trimming and they came out pretty good, not super strong but enough for me. Let's see how the buds smoke in a week or two.
Hi, keep doing what you are doing, an RH of 58% is pretty good. Often the buds are not as dry as they first seem, give them a few more days with the Boveda packs if they go below 58%.
Keep opening the jars up every day for at least 20 minutes as it still needs to cure even if it is dry, that will get rid of the hay smell.
I thought I had over dried one of my first grows, but after two weeks of cure with Boveda packs the first week, everything was fine.
I think you are ok, just carry on curing!
@Mr. Grow It it looks like my drying didn't go well. On day 5 the buds were very dry even tough the temp in the dark room was 70-74F and humidity 54-57% so I took them out. I have been curing the buds in jars and I can't get the humidity to go above 58%. I put Boveda packs in the jars but nothing is happening. Buds smell like hay and they are not sticky at all.
Should I transfer them to a ziploc bag and put a lettuce leaf to up the rh? or is it too late?
I am on the last few days before harvesting my Jack. I started flushing last week (flushed twice) with tap water. The ppm on the run off is 800 but my tap is around 400 ppm. Should I use distilled water to bring the ppm closer to 100 or is it ok to keep it around the 400 ppm of the tap water? Also is it bad that it started yellowing a lot?
Here are some nutrient lines @Mr. Grow It has on this site:
That link does not mention Dutch Pro which is fairly new in North America and @Mr. Grow It has a promo code for them on Amazon.com: MRGROWIT10DP
If you are interested in Dutch Pro in Canada, use Pigeons 420 promo code for Amazon.ca: Pigeons420
I knew I was doing something wrong. Which nutrient brand do you suggest using then. I used the liquid blue on my other plant that is an auto but haven't seen much deficiency on that one.
According to the write up, it is a booster and not food and is meant to be used with their base nutrient line. From the Amazon description for Liquid Blue:
For best results, use flowering supplements Early Bloomer and Liquid Blue with Blue Planet Nutrients base nutrients
I have not used Liquid Blue myself so this is just based on what I have read. Have you used this nutrient before with success?
Hi, isn't Liquid Blue just a potassium supplement? Your girls look hungry to me and you may need to add in a more well rounded nutrient mix.
@Mr. Grow It I switched the Gelato to flower on July 15 but two days before it started to show a little deficiency. Today it shows even more. My PH is 6.8 and PPM is 1312 on RO. I feed it Calmag and Liquid Blue, soil is FoxFarm. Tent temperature is always between 80-85F, two fans (one on top of canopy and one at bottom) what am I missing?
Hey guys, so the Jack started flowering about a week ago but I have noticed that there is issues with nitrogen. When I first checked the ph it was in the high 7 and my ppm was about 3800. I flushed it with distilled water and fixed the ph down to 6.82 and the ppm to 892. Using Foxfarm soil if that makes a difference. Today is the second day the ph and ppm are within normal but I still see new leafs getting yellow. Side note, I have not given any nutrients to the plant yet.
Thoughts?
Hi, if light can get in through those vents then they should be closed. Light leaks in the tent during the off cycle can cause plants to hermie.
It may not be a problem for Autos but will definitely affect Photo Periods.
Might be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyways. When the LED lights are at the off cycle do I have to close the vent covers of the tent or can they stay open?
Hey @Mr. Grow It , what do you think of giving Auto's more than 18 hours of light? I've heard some will even leave the lights on 24 hours a day. Personally, I grow Auto's using a 20/4 light cycle for the whole life of the plant. I feel the girls need some darkness and 20/4 allows me to take advantage of electricity 'time of day' pricing.
I get that but I just thought the autos were like the photo in which they needed the 12-12 cycle as well. I did it for my first grow and now I know. See that’s what this is about learning helping growing!!!! Hell yea.
Oh snaps I didn’t know that!! I had my autos on a 12-12 cycle. @Mr. Grow It is there a reason why we should put the autos on a 18-6 the whole time???
@Mr. Grow It what if I can't separate them? I already planted both of them and they sprouted. Should I just follow what Cap Stone said in his earlier comment (18/6 in veg & 12/12 in flower)
Must growers will keep autoflowers on an 18/6 light cycle for the entire grow while photoperiods need around 12 hours of darkness each day during the flowering cycle. So you may want to grow them in two separate areas or time them so you plant the photoperiod about 3-4 weeks before the auto is ready to harvest so the photoperiod be ready to flip to flower right after the auto is harvested.
I’m a new grower as well and I say yes as well you’ll be able to veg your photo till you harvest your autos. Your autos will flower in any light so you won’t have to change a schedule till and this way you can have two separate harvest and spread your flower out a bit more. I’m currently doing that with 2 autos and one photo.
