I've been looking for the oscillating fans that clamp to tent poles but can't find the vivosun ones anywhere, and the only other company I've found, GrowBuds just let me know they are out of stock until july.
Looks like I'm just going to have to get a normal hurricane oscillating wall mount fan, but I'm confused on what people do to mount them in a tent? Any advice on how to mount or a site/company to get a fan that mounts to poles is appreciated.
Just make sure whatever object you use is longer than the base of your hurricane. Since it oscillates, the very bottom of the base holds most the weight. If your wood/cookie sheet/whatever is longer than the base of the fan, you should be good to go. If it's shorter, the fan will wobble and wiggle when oscillating - unless of course mounted directly to the studs. This is more of a warning for using light ratchets with random objects.
Check out page 31 in Chris' book. It's a small pic of how he did it. Best of luck my brother, send out a pic of your setup when you're rolling my friend!
Mark your studs, measure from inside the tent where those markings are, and drill 2 very small holes into the studs from inside the tent. As long as you don't plan on moving the tent and it's against the wall this should be fine.
Mr. Grow It mounted his fan onto a 2x4 in his book, and has that hung via those light ratchets so he can move the fan up/down when needed in his grow tent.
You could probably do this with PEG boarding, or any number of items. A cookie sheet you're sick of using? Drill the holes in the middle and at the top of the cookie sheet and hang it with light ratchets. Cover it with aluminum foil if you want that super reflective action. Tons of options
I would recommend the Hurricane Fan that Mr. Grow It recommends. I have 3 sizes and they're super quiet, and move a ton of air. All oscillating, ofc. I tried a fan tower as they are super compact and wouldn't take a ton of floor space, and found the best one possible on Amazon and was let down hard. Waste of $120 stick with the Hurricane's you'll be good
- Edit : You can also simply drill into your tent pole. Depends on how handy you are
