How to feed Nutes

Hey all,

Just after a little advice / confirmation new to the forum.

>Im currently running a water to waste system in Soil

> OGS Super soil

>Progrow UFO 300W LED + KingBrite 240w LED in a 3x3 tent

>Im using Professor Nutrients Organic line (Grow Fast, Grow, Bloom, Flower boost, Terpene Gold)

> I also use Aptus CalMag

> Watering on Mon Wed and Saturdays through and Auto system: halo rings and a 400L per hour pump with shut off valves.

> Autos Gelato 41 and a Random strain. Unsure of genetics (Random strain is week 3 into flowering Gelato 41 hasn't started flowering yet. Im unsure if its auto at this point)

No photos at the moment , can get some and post back here in a few hours.

I haven't checked runoff PPM/PH which i need to do.

Ill run you through the process.

I fill up 2L of Rainwater into a jug and test ph and PPM

I then add CalMag and wait 20mins

Then i add:

Grow

Bloom

Flower boost

Terpene gold

In that order

I check PH and PPM and get the desired result (5.8 and 1.9ec 1000ppm on a Hanna Instrument)

I then feed the plants half the mixture on day 1 and half the mixture on day 3.

Im constantly fighting necrosis and chlorosis and im always second guessing myself.

Should i only be using 1 of the bottles of nutrients at one time?

I saw on a post earlier that i should be using the PPM run off to work out how much nutes to use , can someone explain that to me ?

Thanks heaps in advance, I'd like to sort this out for the next run.

Yeah I recommend checking the PPM of the runoff and then basing your feedings off that. Can you check the pH and PPM of the runoff and get back to us? Sounds like it could either be underfeeding or overfeeding causing a lockout.

While i've got you I was planning on making a nutrient solution up into a 2L jug.

Following the instructions on the bottles i don't get the desired EC in after (2.0/1000ppm) do i just add more nutrients ?

Do I have to account for the ppm in the soil already i.e. 1000ppm-450ppm so my jug should be 550ppm?

@Slir thomess Looks like the pH is a bit high. In soil, the general range is between 6.0-7.0 with 6.5 being the sweet spot. In flowering, I usually aim for 1000-1600 PPM. Your measurement shows 450 PPM which is significantly lower. These two things are most likely why you're seeing issues. Yes, account for the PPM that's already in the medium. So if you add in a nutrient solution that's 1000 PPM, you should receive a runoff measurement around 1450 PPM. However, if you have organic nutrients in the medium, as those break down, they show up on the PPM meter. So really, all of this is a guessing game and you may receive a much different runoff number than expected. Therefore, it's very hard to give specific direction here.
