Made rookie mistake of planting in miracle grow. The plants are still in early veg. Is it possible to still transplant or should i leave them alone? If possible to transplant, how do I go about doing it?
I transplanted 2 weeks ago from the solo cups to 3 gallon pots. I was wondering if I could take them out, discard the Miracle-Gro and put them back in the 3 gallon pots with Fox Farm. If I do that should I wash the roots with warm water before I put them into the new soil? What process would you recommend for transplanting or should I not transplant and just run with the Miracle-Gro?
What size container are they in right now? If they are still in solo cups or 1gal, next time you transplant you could just transplant into other soil if you want. No need to do the process that Dale explains since he was going from coco to soil.
Thanks for all the input guys, definitely a lesson learned. The plants look good with no noticeable problems. I am going to keep them as they are and do what mwhite9829 said, just keep an eye on ppm and feed as needed.
Are you having issues with the plants? If they are growing and no signs of issues I wouldn't worry. Miracle grow is a little hot but just watch the nutrient intake. Keep an eye on ppm run off, once low start feeding.
I’ve transplanted a young seedling. Veg. And a flower plant where I rinsed the roots off. And transplanted. BUT!! I used ‘rapid start’ and a rooting powder when transplanting. Along with a nothing to lose mentality🤣. And they did fine. if not more resilient But that’s my experience I can vouch for. I never had any I did, that died
i personally wouldnt put would just use something like great white for the roots the soil should be amended for 30 days of growth but I’m no expert @Mr. Grow It could tell you more
I did a late transplant earlier this year from coco to soil. My personal process, is I carefully took the plants out, knocked off as much medium as I could, and then rinsed the roots in lukewarm water and transplanted as normal into the new medium. I gave them a decent PH balanced drink and a very small shot of nutes (I think under 1/4 of recommended for the age of veg). This really stressed the girls out and I thought I would lose some, but those strains did hold up well.
