Need help

1st time grower not sure what’s going on I’m in Detroit water only soil. I don’t know if I over water or if it just needs some nutrients in its life soon. But they have been lime green since they popped and ever since all 3 so I have to be doing some thing wrong. any help tip or pointers will be greatly appreciated thank you…

I am a first time grower as welll. I have been getting tips from a friend. I am also on a budget lol. So pro mix works well. Also miracle grow is what I started with, and truthfully had no problems. Definitely get pro mix if that is an option for you and if you are on a budget.

Looks like a clay heavy soil. Probably retaining a bit too much water. Could also be caused by nutrient deficiency. What's in the soil fertilizer-wise?

Is that top soil or a potting mix?

Sorry. Misunderstood your post. I didn't realize you were saying it was a purchased soil. Thought you meant you were using soil and only watering with great lakes water. Sorry for the confusion.

The soil is probably a little too hot(nutrient-wise) and heavy for such small plants. In the future you may want to dig a small hole and fill it with something lighter and less nutrient rich at the beginning. It will eventually grow out of the issues you are seeing most likely. Not much can be done about it right now unfortunatly.

Keep the watering to a minimum. In heavy soil like that it retains a ton of water and makes it hard for the roots to get oxygen. They basically get force fed and overwatered if you water too much.
