I made a clothes line between the tent poles and strapped the three tallest tops to the side of the tent. I guess I'll let them ride and see how it goes. Thanks to all of you for your advice!
I have had great success grabbing the tallest branches and pulling them downward to get all of the branches close to being at the same height to even up the canapy and gain space between the tops of the plants and the light. Grab them approximately 25% from their stem bases and attach some string/wire and run the other end of the string/wire
down to the frame running around the bottom inside of your tent, adjust then tie off accordingly. The effect will surprise you - it will pretty much pull them straight down with light to any sideways redirection, and only put a big bend in the branch down low. Works really well once - even when the branches have become pretty "woody". And, it puts minimal stress, if any on the plant.
This is what the above provided for me (in these images I have already removed all the strings and have started to disassemble the SCROG nettings in order to remove the pots for harvesting purposes. This was my first grow and had zero clue what to do other than I was concerned they would burn up from being so high - therefore, they need to come down LOL.
LOL, now looking at the pictures - what menagerie of calamity! Anyways, best of growing to all.
I don't have enough space to raise the entire tent. The stalks are somewhat brittle, if I bend them to much they are going to snap. If I do snap off the top of the branches will the lower branches continue to bud or will the shock be too much? I thought about putting a bamboo stake in the pot and using garden wire to pull them back away from the light and let them climb up near the tent wall. I am unsure what else I can do… I think it is too late to use a trellis net.
hmm its a little surprising that the stems would snap that easily. I would NOT prune the top branches at this point that will probably cause a lot of shock. If possible you could tie them down little by little over the next week, bending them a little more each day. However, that will kind of prolong the stress
You may need to tie those branches down like you have suggested. It probably isn't too far along in flower to stunt them that badly. I would do it now though because they will continue to stretch and you wont have many options once they start getting too close to the lights. In the past when I have had this issue I removed the bottom of the tent and raised the entire ten by like 2 feet and then put a blanket like a skirt around the base of the tent to keep it enclosed...it was not fun.
I had the same issue when I left my photo in veg mode for too long. It was 4in from the light so I had to bend them and tie them to the side of the tent. I also had to remove my rope hanger and custom fit my light to give it more height.
Might not be too late for a scrog net- about 8" down from top of tallest top and work the others in as they grow- bend the stalk of the tallest one where it would fit under-

my 2 cents-
