Can I shut off the 2 fans and the in-line fan during the 6 hour dark period. The humidity is naturally down and the tent temperature will be around 70 On my 10 week old Gorilla Glue Autos.
Thanx fellas! I turned off everything to see if the temperature or humidity changed. I did a 40 minute test before you guys answered Me. I started out at 70 degrees and the humidity was at 50%. After 40 minutes I checked checked out the temperature and humidity and the temp stayed at around 73 degrees but the humidity shot up to 77%. Not a good idea And that was within 40 minutes. You guys hit it on the nose. When I opened the tent it was damp and overly warm and had a damp smell. Once I turned everything back on everything went back to normal. Wont try that again. Thanx again!
It depends on what stage of growth you are in. If you don't have tons of leaves resting on one another you'd probably be ok. It's not the overall humidity you need to worry about, it's isolated pockets with no airflow that allow things like powdery mildew to form. As a general rule I'd say you can turn off one or the other in certain parts of the grow. Early growth it's probably fine to turn off both.
That's not generally a good idea. You can get automatic controllers to turn the fans on and off as needed, but without those you usually need to leave things running during the dark period.
I do have some of my fans on a timer and they shut off for 30 minutes in the middle of the dark period just to give the fan motors a break.
When the lights go out humidity spikes pretty big.
