I’m used to doing ppm checks when using synthetic nutes. But I’m getting ready for my 1st organic grow with dry amendments in the base soil as well as periodic top dresses. Do you still need to check runoff PPM to see when to add topdress? I’m unsure because of the slow release qualiTy of the amendments ( Gaia green) but I’m unsure

I only check runoff PPM when growing with organic inputs when I have problems.
You do still need to check runoff but not nearly as often. Once you get your blend right you will get the hang of how fast your plants burn through the amendments in the medium. I amend the soil for whichever stage I am potting it for.
