Hello,
I have a SF2000 and a SF1000 in a 2x4x5 tent. I see all kinds of discussions about how high they should be above the tops, but not much on where the dimmer percentage should be. I have them 36 inches above with 60% dimmer for veg. Any help here would be great.
Thanks!
Hello, thank you again.
Here is the chart from spider farmer
I also have a sf1000 as well, so right now during start of flowering I have the knob at 90% at 36 inches as I am not sure what the par is combined for both units. Would it just be the 974 in the middle at 18 inches plus another 500 ish for the sf1000? I do want to maximize plants but not burn them. So with your math of 600 to 900, should i lower to 24 inches?
Just left this on a different thread but it applies here too: I have to make a video on this because this question comes up often. I'll try to make it simple: 1. Look at the grow light's PAR chart (found on the grow light's listing page) 2. Understand the general PAR ranges for cannabis plants: 200-400 PPFD seedings/clones/mother plants 400-600 PPFD veg 600-900 PPFD flowering 3. Do the monkey math to figure out light distance with the dimmer. For example, if at 12" on the par chart it shows 1000 PPFD in the middle, then a good guess is that the light dimmed down 50% will be half the amount of PAR - so 500 PPFD. Hope that makes sense. You should then be able to make an educated guess on grow light distance using the dimmer. This video might help you understand PAR a bit more:
search the play store for ppfd meter, I use this to get a baseline par reading. I use 400 seedling 600 veg and 900 flower. Also research your light to see what you find regarding true wattage/ power draw. This all together will be the true values of your light and not the numbers someone came up with to sell the light.
Thank you very much!
you can move em to 28” on 55% and they’ll love it, as they get bigger adjust to around 75% at 24“ and start of flower adjust it 5-7% up to 100% maintaining 24” above the tops every week of flower and they’ll do good💪🏽
