I have been working with the same light. I’m 5 weeks into veg and am keeping the light at 20% power at 28 inches. This is less than the 40% level that I used until some plant stress became evident. I’m growing in a 2x4 tent and have whittled down to three plants in 3 gallon fabric pots. The PAR chart shows a significant drop off in photon delivery as you move away from the center 3x1.5 area.
I had some issues with waxy and curling leaves on one of three tent plants.…possibly N toxicity. Using Happy Frog (includes nutes) I dosed six keepers with Gen Hydro trio at half strength when in gallon pots…(mistake). Three of six plants were moved outside into a raised ring garden spots filled with HF that gets four-five hours of direct morning sun and filtered sun the rest of the day. New growth on those plants show leaves with no waxiness.
From what I can surmise at this point, some pheno‘s are more tolerant of intense light than others. In my case…slow and low is how I’m going to go through veg. When I flip to flower, I’ll progressively increase the light power until harvest. This is my first serious grow and I’m learning and evaluating as I go. Chris has been very supportive by sharing his insights.
Brotto, thanks very much for your reply and info, Im going to try that height and dimmer setting, Ive tried a few different settings but the plants arent growing and looking pale or bleached, so not sure what it is. But the lights are quite strong so a lower setting makes sense for seedlings, I guess its a matter of keep trying until it works. And finding the right education.
Do you know what height and dimmer settings work on the SF 2000 for seedlings at about 10 days old? They are pale green and not growing much and Im wondering if the light is too strong for the very young plants.
I answered you on your other post but will put the answer here too in case anyone is wondering... "I get that question so much but honestly I have a par meter so I just dim and set the light distance according to that. I've never set it to a certain percent and certain distance and tracked it like that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help there. "
Tough question to answer because I use a PAR meter. I don't remember what dim% and distance I had when they were younger. Right now I have it on 100% in flowering.

2x4x6 tent. Iv only done autos with it. 18-24 inches above . 18/6 light schedule.
I got the same light in a 2x4 . I run it all 100% and adjust the height. No problems yet.
Are you in veg. Or flower?
