How do you top dress when using Build-A-Soil Clover Cover Crop Blend? If you rake in the dry amendments wouldn't that kill the cover crop? Do you re-plant the cover crop after each top dress?
Mixed options on cover crops throughout the community. But yes cover crops do help retain moisture. Some growers just "shake in" the top dressing when they have a cover crop instead of rake in.
@Living Gardening Thanks for the heads up. I'm guessing the reason for more pest would be because the top later retains more moisture right? The reason why you would want a cover crop in an organic system. Doesn't sound like the juice is worth the squeeze. We are told to rake in the top dressed amendment like 2inches into the soil which is what I thought would kill the clover. Sounds like they grow like weeds after planting.

No. You just lay it on your soil surface. Hence, top dress. Be aware that clove can attract pests.
I wish I had known that before I did the clover thing.
You could chop and drop all your clover after or before you top dress. You won't kill your clover, trust me.
