I have had problems since week 5 flower with leaves turning yellow. Now at week 8-9 flower most leaves are yellow or gone. The trichomes are about 70% cloudy but very few amber. If the plants are dying will the buds continue to develop? Should I harvest now or wait a little longer for more amber trichomes? These plants have an estimated flower time of 8 and 9 weeks.

The buds will continue to ripen. They won't necessarily grow more. Think of picking edible fruit from a plant. The "fruit" of cannabis is actually the trichomes. If you harvest a green tomato it's not the same as a ripe red one. If you wait too long the tomato will spoil on the vine. It's about picking it at the right time for your needs because some people eat fried green tomatoes, some eat vine ripe, and others like sundried. More amber=more stoney couch lock and more cloudy=psychoactive.
