If its been 5 weeks in veg and you havent top dressed then yes it's running out of nutrients. Ideally you would too dress around week 3 or 4 because organics take 1-2 weeks to break down. If you have nutrients you can soak them in water for 24 hours and then water the plant with the water and mix the solids at the bottom into your top soil. The water will collect solulable nutrients and help feed the plant more quickly.
Sorry for the late response. I didn't see a notification. Topdressing is adding dry ammendment nutrients to the top of your pot. This is a living soil technique that allows ammendments to break down naturally in the soil to feed your plants. It is similar to the process of leaves and sticks falling in the Forrest and creating a nutrient dense/fungus rich food source for plants. If you are using bottles for flower then the procedure will be different. Yes, your new soil should be enough for all veg growth. You will need a flowering fertilizer to get the most from your plant once you change the light schedule.
Nice! Ok I just transplanted into 3 gallon pots and I’m still giving them cal mag and fish shit. I will test my run off my next water and see if my ppm is good or if I need nutes. I have fox farm trio on hand for when it’s time to add nutes. Thanks Cam you always come through
Happy to help. Make sure you observe the feeding schedule on the bottles and what to add when. No need to test runoff in amended soil. You will flush out nutrients if you do. If you just transplanted they will return to normal within a week. Happy to help!
Got you last question so when will yo test the run off? After 2-3 weeks and I needs to Feed nutes?
