I’m sure you have covered this in one of your many videos. But I was wondering what is the earliest you have ever FIM/topped? And what is your opinion about best practices for doing a FIM/topping.ei is there a time or stage of growth where you find most beneficial to do these HST techniques. I have read some say the plant is so resilient as long as it looks healthy then top or FIM as you wish. But let’s hear your opinion! Anyone else with an opinion is welcome to add their 2 bits.

Thanks for the input! I did end up just topping after I got to the 5th but cut at the 3rd.
Earliest was 2nd node and I felt that was too early. Now I top/FIM at the 3rd, 4th, or 5th node.
I'm only on my 2nd grow and I don't count the first 2 sets of leaves but I do top at the 4th or 5th like these I topped them the 19th, today LST sprouted November 26th the Pootie tang & Permafrost are so short very very tight node's as you can see in the pictures, I removed the fan leaves 2nd from the top to let the undergrowth get some light.

I will usually do the first top around the 3rd or 4th node assuming I'm working with a robust healthy plant.
After that it's top as much as you want, but plan your topping with an eye to the future, not just willy-nilly full speed ahead firing all phasers. I will usually do one topping at the 3rd or 4th node, then let her grow out quite a bit then do one more round of topping.
When you top, it slows down the vertical growth while the multiple new stems form but the under growth will have a growth spurt during this time. My experience has been, the more I top in veg, the longer it takes to get her into the flower tent, but then you get more bud at the end too. Plan accordingly.
Well that's my 2 bits! 😁
