I found this YouTube video and took a picture with my phone. Sorry, for bad pictures, but he shows how to tell female seeds from male seeds. I gave it a try and got 3 of out 4 females. What do you think?
Thanks Dr. Ozzy, I agree. If I am not experimenting, researching or asking questions I ain't growing as a person. I have used OldSchoolBA out of Canada for a long time. Last few years, I have not been to happy with what they say they have to offer and what I get. Not that I complain when it comes to getting a new strain and free seeds.
Also, this whole issue has given rise to Feminized seeds, no?
Breeders who initially resisted the idea have given way to market demand by growers who want a Photoperiod plant but do not want to mess with sexing before grow. I feel.
It would seem if that were viable the breeders would sell seeds like that. M or F.
I have heard a couple of known breeders (Rasta Jeff, Vader) and lots of forum reinforcement completely negating the possibility of this theory. I get getting high percentages of getting it right at guessing, bear in mind all regular seeds are a 50/50 shot. A common method solving this issue is growing the seeds, knowing for sure what they have and using clones from the known best specific plants. That’s how they consistently grow top quality crops, be it 4 plants or 400-
I am not going to rain on your parade and kudos to researching and expanding as a grower.
With me, having discovered the importance of starting with good Genetics, (ie more expensive and harder to get seeds) I am looking at cloning as a way to get more from the initial seed investment now I am paying more. Why grow one plant per seed when you can clone and grow at least 2 to double the return. Keep researching.
I just question the final outcome presented here with this theory because it would mean a whole lot of breeders for a whole lot of years missed this pretty obvious detail.
This has been debunked awhile back. It would be nice if the shape/pattern of the seeds was an indicator of male or female but it's just not true.
I’ve seen that as well. I have no idea if it’s a thing or not.
