Hi all
I’m new to the forum and growing. I wanted to share my progress so far; I’m very excited for the journey. Very thankful for Mr Grow It, for your knowledge, care, grace, calm and reassuring-tell it like it is & should be voice 😬. I am 2 wks into my grow session. I am a house/office plant grower at heart “green thumb” so growing hemp, I think, should be ideal for me. I have a grow tent kit (Vivosun) and am in week 2 of the process. Humidity stays around 53-55%, at 79-80 degrees. I live in HTown and from my study/research this is good. I am using Fox Farm medium and pH balance water, with a 18/6 light set up. I have collected my own seed from previous buys (two yr period) and started with some Reggie for my trail and error process, saving the good seed for the “expert” grows😉
My 1st seed popped on 5/16 and looks good. 2nd see popped today😌🥳 I do notice that the 1st seed is smaller than I thought it would be. I did a grow last year without all of the equipment and recall a greener and bigger starter leaf. I had to stop that grow because I was not set up for the next phases of growth; lighting, nutrition, environment, etc.
Anyway, I just wanted to share bc I am happy and this forum is cool. 🥸

The leaves are like solar panels - they are intaking light as energy and they use it for growth. So plucking off the leaves when the plant is this young could slow down growth. As @Cap Stone mentions, topping her will cause the lower branches to grow. I also recommend that. Looking good so far!
Wow! Looking good! At this point I would top her, that will really get the lower branches growing. I would not cut any of the leaves off yet, she's a bit young for that. Those lower branches will grow right past the leaves if you top her. You could LST at the same time but I would give her a few days after topping to see how the lower branches are doing.
Right now, those big leaves are sucking in the light and feeding your girl so are probably doing more good than harm.
Hey all
Check in time for me😁. I’m in week three and my greenies are beautiful 😏. I’m reading a lot of LST training in the forum this week. Lots of good post and pictures👍🏾. I have also been reading 7 Steps to Grow Cannabis book that I purchased for reference so I understand why one would LST or Topping. My question: instead of tying down at this point, why can’t I cut the leaves that have 3 fingers? I also read, in the book, about pruning, as an option, right before the flowering stage so that you don’t stunt the plants growth. I’m feeling like cutting the 3 finger leaves will let the new lower branches get the light that they need In the same way as tying it down, at this point🤔
As always I appreciate the feedback
At this stage I would spray the soil around the seedling real good, then let it dry out before doing it again.
I don't think you should spray water directly on the seedling.
Hi, a PH of 8.8 is pretty high and you should try and get that down to a PH between 6-7 (Look for a product called 'PH Down').
If your tap water is too hard you might be better off buying distilled water and adding CalMag to it.
Hi all
Checking in. I’m in week one. Both seeds are 2” now (3rd pic is the 1st seed. 2nd pic is the 2nd seed it is 4 days younger than the 1st seed). The 2nd see caught up to the 1at seed quick. I had to adjust my light cycle bc it wasn’t turning off from 12:00p-6:00p. I found this out today since I’ve been home all day. I neglected to say in previous post that I am using 8.8pH water only when soil is dry. Is this ok? I am seeing ~5.5-6.0 in posts. Should I adjust this? I am not adding any nutrients at this time. I’ve seen posts from Mr G that since I am using Fox soil I won’t need to add anything for at least 30-days.
Thanks for the advice🌻
Nice setup and welcome aboard. This is a great place to learn for sure
Welcome, looks like your off to a great start. Your previous grow with the darker green leaves, if that was using sunlight I wouldn't compare to artificial. There is a noticable difference from sun to tent.
Hi! Welcome to the forum.
Looks like a good start!
